Vehicle Description
From David's own garage comes this incredible 1962 Chevy Convertible. David purchased this rotisserie restored hot rod through a well known enthusiast several years ago and spared no expense in keeping in the most meticulous condition. Jack Shelson built this Car Craft centerfold circa 1998 with the intent to create an original looking, modern driving track monster that could draw eyes both on and off the race circuit. He started with a rust free original stock 62 convertible stripped down to bare metal the body and chasis underwent a rustproofing process followed by several coats of PPG Hot Red Paint with clearcoat to protect it. The body panels, moldings, front grill, emblems, window trims, etc. are all either original or new old stock. The interior is stunning with an original painted dash, classic industries white gauge set, classic looking radio with modern function and sound, new carpet and meticulous red and white seats and trim. Start it up and the exhaust literally sings respectively without aggravating the neighbors. It has 4 wheel power disc brakes with an auxiliary vacuum pump for backup added security. The motor was replaced with a traditionally reliable Chevy 350 which was bored and stroked to a 383 putting out 462 horses at 5800 rpm. This car is f-a-s-t. The 3-speed automatic transmission was replaced a few years ago with a brand new, highway friendly 4-speed overdrive GM transmission. This head turner now revs down the road at 80+ MPH turning 2500 rpm keeping up with traffic comfortably while not running out of gears or burning through gallons of fuel. The coolant temp, oil pressure, and voltage gauges are all dead center all the time regardless of environmental conditions. There are zero leaks beneath the car and all the fluids and filters are brand new. It ALWAYS starts and has NEVER given any reason to doubt driving it in any condition, any place at any time. Truly a great balance that's very difficult to achieve in an older vehicle. The car and book of receipts really speak of themselves. Drive it any, any distance, any speed. I typically take it on 50+ mile road trips with my wife next to me and our two little girls strapped into their car seats by the custom Chevy red seat belts. Its truly a blast to talk about, own, look at and especially drive.
