Vehicle Description
1957 Cadillac Biarritz Convertible
If you spend any time watching the auction shows or perusing
through the results you probably already know what you are looking
at The 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible. These cars have
become incredibly desirable over the years and due to the limited
production have proven to be rare classics to find. The Biarritz
Convertible was the top of the line car of its day with a hefty
price tag at the time of $7,000. That's more like $60,000 in modern
times. Many people feel these cars are the perfect investment in
that they are going to only become more desirable as they
disappear. With only 1,800 made originally it is tough to determine
how many are even still in existence. They are fetching big dollars
and this number will only go up as time goes on. The most expensive
one sold was just recently bought for $649,000.00 at auction.
This 1957 Biarritz is a very nicely done car that has undergone a
complete body off concours restoration. What's even more amazing is
that the car has a documented 39,937 original miles. At the
Cadillac LaSalle club meet in Southern California the car won first
place which goes to show how nicely the car was restored. It is
coated in a nice Red paint which pairs perfectly with all the
original chrome and stainless. It also works well with the White
convertible top that is power operated from the factory. The car
still wears its original wheels and hubcaps which are paired with
wide white wall tires.
The original drivetrain is still in place consisting of a 365 ci
324 hp V8 motor and Hydramatic transmission. The motor is fitted
with dual quad carburetors, gold Cadillac valve covers and that
classic gold air cleaner. Just because it is a councours
restoration does not mean the car cannot be driven because it truly
drives down the road just as good as it looks. It has an
independent front suspension and new shocks which along with the
power steering and power brakes make it a really smooth driver.
The interior is done in Red and White leather and is in excellent
condition. Everything throughout has that original factory
appearance. The car is a factory air conditioning car and also
utilizes power windows and an automatic trunk opener. Another
important feature to mention is the rare factory 3 piece parade
boot that comes with the car. Cadillac was always ahead of the game
when it came to incorporating all the luxuries available and an
example of this is the Autronic eye on the dash. This senses the
headlights of on coming traffic and automatically dims your brights
to low beams. Pretty advanced considering the car is from 1957! The
trunk is just as well done as the rest and houses the spare.
This is one well preserved example of the 57 Biarritz Convertible
and is quite rare considering the low miles, all the features and
the fact that it is 1 of only 1800 produced originally. If you are
looking for that next addition to your collection this is
definitely one to consider.
