For Sale: 1936 Cord Westchester in Tehachapi, California

Vehicle Description

SALE PENDING !

Here we have a 1936 Cord 810 Westchester in runing/driving condition, this Cord was aquired in the mid 60's by our Dad and he saved from a started conversion to a 289 Ford with a C4 automatic transmission from a Mustang but never was finished and in need of a restoration when he purchased it. He aquired this car including its original but damaged engine having bent rods and the Engine repaired and all rods, bearings and valves have been replaced because the pre owner had a supercharger installed and damaged the original engine, after starting the conversion the owner lost interest in that project.

Our Dad (who passed) restored this Car in the late 60's to as close he could do to its present original condition, but there is a view changes as a Cord knowledgeable people will instantly notice as relocated Alternator, different Air Filter, shorter Water pipes and the firewall in the engine compartment. He quit driving it due to transmission related issues he could not fix and every estimate he got for repairs just made him drain the fluids and park it under a cover for all these years passed in one of his Garages on our property. After his passing and our family taking over it became my job to make the cars running and get them ready for sale, this Guy became my challange , it would only hit second gear and by laying asside modern computer logics i am familiar with it becam a confrontation for me with just Switches and there calibration, beginning this i opened after reading up on these Transmissions what could be broken, i found a in sound condition by looking clean inside of a Transmission with very little shavings on the the drain plug and a working lube pump disclaiming mechanical issues or damages. then after two days i had it down after cleaning all electrical contacts i found a bent shift cylinder switch dirty and misadjusted and after straigtened it out and setting everything to specs the Transmission after learning how to run it worked just fine and i was able to drive it around the property
Mechanicly and bodywhise i find this beauty in rust free and working condition as far i can see it would like some new Tires, Brakes work, cooling was inproved and of course it has the minor leaks here and there as an old Car just has.
