The Corvette has enjoyed a legendary presence and colorful history since its debut in 1953.
Capturing the hearts and minds of those who desire more from an automobile then a mere means of transportation, the Corvette has always represented the best in American automobile design and performance. For the 5th generation Corvette (1997-2004 ) the ultimate in performance is offered in the Z06 model. The C5 Z06 is truly a world class sports car made to be driven enthusiastically, with confidence provided by its awesome power and incredible road handling suspension. The C5 Z06 is a Corvette for those who truly appreciate and enjoy automobile performance.
To many, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is the Holy Grail of racing. It’s the world's oldest active sports car race in endurance racing and one of the most prestigious automobile races in the world, often called the "Grand Prix of Endurance and Efficiency". Keeping a car on the track for twice around the clock is the ultimate test of machine, drivers and crew. Participation in the 24 Hours is by invitation only. To be invited is a an honor. To finish the race is reason to celebrate. To actually win your class is racing’s ultimate feat and offers entree into racing’s most exclusive fraternity, the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans winners . The CR5 Corvette Race Team won the GTS Class, with their cars placing in first and second position in both 2001 and 2002. Total domination at the world’s most demanding racing event. What an incredible accomplishment !
To pay tribute to this historic feat, the Corvette design team decided to honor the final year C5 production by offering a LeMans Commemorative Edition package for all 2004 models. The package included special LeMans blue paint, unique badging noting the LeMans victories, as well as polished wheels and a host of other Corvette options. A special shale interior was offered only on the coupe and the convertible, and featured embroidered LeMans emblems on the headrests.
On the introduction of the Commemorative Editions, Dave Hill, Corvette Chief Engineer, said, “We’ve created the 2004 Commemorative Edition to share our racing achievements with Corvette enthusiasts, while bringing real performance and technology upgrades to the Z06.”
Apart from the Commemorative package for ’04, the Z06 receives specific chassis tuning upgrades intended to deliver increased performance and more vehicle control–all with a smoother ride around town. The chassis refinements and reduced vehicle weight have paid off, as the ’04 Z06 joined the ranks of the select few volume-production vehicles to have broken the eight-minute barrier for lap times at the 170-turn, 14-mile-long Nuerburgring circuit in Germany.. This is a worthy accomplishment, considering that the exact same vehicle can then be driven cross-country in air-conditioned comfort, backed by a factory warranty.
Out of a total 2004 Corvette production of 34,064 only 2,025 Z06 Commemorative Edition Corvettes were built making the 2004 Z06 Commemorative Edition a very special and collectible
Corvette. The 2004 Z06 Commemorative Edition Corvette being offered has a only 15,000 miles on the odometer and has been properly stored and maintained throughout the seller’s 10 year ownership. Here is an opportunity to acquire an absolutely stunning, well maintained, high performance Corvette, forever aligned with Corvette’s most celebrated racing accomplishment, at a very fair price. The car is located in Wayne, PA. Additional photos available at: bsc1234.com. To schedule an opportunity to see the car, please call Mark 609-306-1631 10am-8pm EST.
