pleased to present the 1968 Dodge M601.Since they were never sold
here, tthey are extremely rare. This truck was purchased from VPW
Vintage Power Wagons, Fairfield, IA in April 2002, 1 of only 14
that VPW brought into the U.S. from Thailand. was used as a small
town veterans day parade participant after being decommissioned
from military use. They are still widely recognized as one of the
most capable, hardcore, go-anywhere off road vehicles ever
produced! The M601, or Special Power Wagon, was ordered from the
Chrysler Corporation in the mid or latter part of the 1950's. The
M601 was an alternative to the military-spec Dodge M37. The M601
was distributed to foreign militaries through the Military Defense
Assistance Program, perhaps because it was less expensive than the
M37. The previous owner removed the body from the frame. The cab
was too far gone so he purchased another one from VPW. All the
parts were sandblasted and painted. Finished in correct Army "Olive
Drab" Green, this troop carrier shows extremely well. The front
bumper with attached tow hooks has a tight fit and shows well. The
cab is open, but does come equipped with a removal canvass top for
protection from the elements. The windshield also has the
capability to fold down. This truck's cab does have canvass straps
for restraint devices. The original steering wheel has a protective
laced vinyl wrap. The cargo area also features a oak framed and
canvass covering for the cargo area. The rear of the vehicle does
have the correct trailer hitch. Inside, the interior features two
front seats are covered with a tobacco colored vinyl and look
great. The previous obtain the proper pieces from VPW and rebuilt
them. The wooden bed was replaced with a diamond plate metal and
finished in the same green. The bed has a opposing slatted oak
benches that fold upward for more cargo space. This 4 x 4 Dodge
M601 is powered by a 251 cubic inch inline 6 cylinder engine fed by
a Chrysler carburetor. Power is transferred to the wheels using a
4-speed manual and with the aid of a two speed transfer case and
locking front� hubs. Equipped with Budd 16 x 5 bolt steel wheels
and sits upon a set of 9.00-16 Mohawk military tires. The former
owner put a lot of money into refreshing this rare stateside Dodge
M601 and it shows! This truck is ready for anything, on or off the
