For Sale: 1964 Daimler Saloon in Lakeland, Florida
Just arrived, an very rare example of a Daimler Saloon. An eight year
restoration was just completed and scored 99.2 out of 100 and a sanctioned
Jaguar event within the last month. Right hand drive and all the proper
sources were used to restore this car to original specs. Only about
100 miles since completed. Now it is ready for it next owner.
In 1960, BSA sold Daimler to Jaguar Cars, which continued Daimler's line
and added a Daimler variant of its Mark II sports saloon. Jaguar was then
merged into the British Motor Corporation in 1966 and British Leyland in 1968.
Under these companies, Daimler became an upscale trim level for Jaguar cars.
It was widely considered to be the luxurious version of the Mark II.
It features the same body metal and different fluted chrome trim on the front
and rear. It is much rarer that the more typical Mark II.
This example may well be the nicest example in the US. The restoration was
completed under the direction of a seasoned British Car enthusiast who has
completed many top level restorations. A nut and bolt restoration was done
over an 8 year period, starting with a rust free body that was stripped to bare metal.
Flawless body and paint was done by a well know restoration shop in Florida
as well as the interior trim and mechanical work.
It looks as nice under the car as it does on top.
The original 2.5L V8 hemi engine was completely rebuilt including new pistons.
Brakes were done by White Post Restorations. The brake cylinders were
machined and sleeved with brass along with new seal kits for lifetime corrosion
free performance. New seals, hoses, rubber, suspension bushes, exhaust,
wiring harness etc were sourced from England.
5 new Vredestein Sprint Classic radial tires are fitted in the correct size.
The front and rear seats were sent to OJSI (Original Specification Jaguar Interiors)
in Muncie, Indiana for complete rebuilding including new foams and leather seat covers.
Interior wood (31 pieces) was done by Madera Concepts in Goleta, California.
Beautiful burled walnut with furniture quality finish. Madera specializes in
high end automotive wood interiors and the work is spectacular.
Since completion the car has won its class in local British Car Day shows and just
recently was scored 99.2/100 by a JCNA (Jaguar Club of North America) sanctioned concourse.
Original tool kit, glove box manual and service manual are included
Drives and nice as it looks. Now it will look great in your garage.
