Vehicle Description
Here is an ultra rare 1967 Dodge Monaco 500 in exceptional unmolested condition! This was a CA desert car all of its life and the original owner stated that it had never left Southern California.
Only 2500 were ever built and most have rusted away to dust. (http://www.oldride.com/library/1967_dodge_monaco.html)
This car has perfect pans, body, trunk. There is slight rust below the rear window but this is easily correctable.
Engine: 383 HP 4bbl -- Numbers Matching -- was loose when we acquired it! Before started we replaced distributor, carb (carter AFB), water pump, fuel pump, hoses, belts, vacuum lines, alternator, master cylinder, brakes, vacuum booster, radiator-- flushed and serviced transmission and the block. Started right up -- immediately -- not bad for 30+ years of sitting.
Car was in barn -- yes literally a barn -- since the late 70's but sadly towed out into the desert sun in 2003 -- this ruined the interior so......
We had front, rear seats re upholstered in original materials and pattern, door panels redone - matched original wicker as close as humanly possible, new headliner and carpet. There is more to do here but the $$$ stuff is done.
Tires also replaced -- date codes on bias plys were 1969 and 72 -- not much left of them but the codes.
All glass is GREAT and all window mechanisms were serviced and repaired (dirt removed -- there was half the Mohave in there) and they work great.
The paint.... If you love an honest patina this one might be a candidate for a clear coat and drive it away.
Here are the problems: The chrome door moulding on the passenger door is missing. and the right wheel lip moulding is damaged. Otherwise the car is complete (even has all 4 special edition hubcaps).
Runs and drives --
This is an exceptional vehicle and with a little work a real head turner.
