The fourth generation of the T-bird was a large personal luxury car
produced by Ford from 1964-1966. They were restyled in favor of a
more squared-off formal look. The standard powertrain was the 300
HP 390 Cubic inch engine but a optional 345 HP 428 cubic inch was
offered making this big heavy cruiser quite a rocket.
This wonderful and quite rare Bird we are pleased to offer is one
of very few 428 convertibles. It is reported that 5066 convertibles
were made that year with only 74 of those convertibles offered the
428 cubic inch engine option. This car is also equipped with air
conditioning and cruise knows as highway pilot, which a reported
only 1% of the T-birds were equipped.
In addition to this rare offering, the car has had been completely
and meticulously maintained. It is mechanically excellent as is the
body, paint, top and interior. The car starts up perfectly and goes
down the road with ease. The power top performs as it should. From
2011 through 2013 when the mechanical restoration was performed an
estimated $20,000 was spent on the motor, exhaust, brakes, shocks,
fuel system, leaf springs, tires and wiring.
This is a must have for anyone in the collector car hobby.
