With its decal covered body, tall stance, and hood scoop there is
no way of checking out this custom and not picturing the nostalgia
drags. This gasser has the total old school look and turns heads
everywhere you take it. The body is coated in a nice Yellow paint
with the front grill, headlight trim and taillight trim being
painted to match. The front bumper has been removed but the rear is
still in place and painted Silver. Most of the trim pieces have
been removed except for around the front windshield and the rocker
panels. All of the glass is in great shape with a nice tint. A kill
switch was added to the car and is mounted in the rear by the 1954
style taillights. 15 inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels are
mounted under all four corners and are fitted with Wide White wall
slicks in the rear.
The hood has been customized to expose the scoop air cleaner which
really gives it a tough look. It was custom painted yellow to match
the body and tops off the 355 c.i. small block motor well. The
engine starts up well and has a great sound through the ceramic
coated exhaust. The motor also features a custom yellow tunnel ram,
yellow Edelbrock valve covers, and two four barrel Edelbrock
carburetors. Keeping it always running cool is the Griffin aluminum
cross flow radiator and mechanical fan. The rest of the drivetrain
includes a Turbo 350 automatic transmission with 4000 stall
converter and Ford 9" positraction rear end with 4.11 gears. Power
four wheel disk brakes are in place and have no problem slowing the
car to a stop.
The interior is all done in Black with a split bench style front
seat. The rear seat has been removed. The dash has a mostly
original look but a set of Sunpro white gauges were added below for
the Oil/Amp/Temp gauges. A Faze tachometer with shift light was
also mounted to the top of the dash. A Lokar shifter was added and
is mounted through the floorboard. The trunk has not been
upholstered but the metal is all in great shape and it houses the
fuel cell and Optima battery.
This is one of those classics you check out and just know is going
to be fun. You are going to have a tough time rolling down the road
in this car without a big smile on your face.
