Vehicle Description
1957 Chevrolet Custom Pickup
Being a fan of classic trucks, getting to list a custom 57 Chevy
like this always an exciting thing. This pickup was nicely built
and customized to be a top level show car and utilizes only the
highest quality components. This is known as a small window truck
due to the smaller rear window which is often a preference among
truck owners. The big windows certainly have their fans but are
often paired with complaints about too much sun getting in and
heating up the inside. Painted in a Fire Engine Red the truck has
no problem standing out and very subtle ghost flames accent the
front perfectly. It is just enough to change up the look without
being gaudy and overbearing. The paint has a really nice finish and
the front bumper has been painted to match. In rear the bumper was
removed and a custom roll pan created with a frenched in license
plate and custom Chevy bowtie tailights. That famous emblem also
graces the rear tailgate where you would have originally seen
Chevrolet lettering. The hood and front fenders have been shaved of
the original style emblems which gives it a really clean look. The
original grill has been chromed and helps to create one of the
coolest looking truck front ends Chevrolet ever created. Custom
Foose Wheels were added and just add to that overall toughness. It
has 18s in front and 20s in rear all of which are wrapped with
Yokohama tires.
Pop the hood and you will reveal the 350 ZZ4 small block Chevy
motor. It starts up easily and runs well. These motors are very
reliable and produce plenty of power. It has been customized with
chrome Chevrolet valve covers, Edelbrock dual quads, a scoop style
air cleaner and a ton of other billet and chrome components. The
power brake booster is chrome as well and smoothly brings the car
to a halt with 4 wheel disc brakes. Paired with the motor is a 700R
automatic transmission with 3500 stall that shifts smoothly without
issues. The body sits on the original frame which has been boxed
and along with the positraction Ford 9" rear end (3.73 gears) is
painted to match the body. It has a coil over suspension in
front/rear and the truck rolls down the road smoothly. A power rack
and pinion steering system was also added.
Custom Silver and Red upholstery was used on the interior which was
customized to have newer high back bucket seats. They sit to each
side of a custom center console which provides an arm rest,
cupholders and houses the aftermarket shifter with custom knob. The
dash has also been modified with a Kenwood AM/FM/CD player and
white faced gauges in a billet bezel with LED turn signal
indicators. Some of the stock controls for things like the lights
and AC/Heat are still in place. A tilt steering column sits in
front of the driver along with the Grant GT steering wheel. A lot
of these old trucks had the gas tank behind the seats and were
notorious for leaking that smell into the inside. Because of this
it was relocated with a fuel cell that you fill through the cap in
the bed which was entirely redone in Red Oak.
