The restoration work on this car was completed over twenty years
ago, yet even today there are no signs of wear-no chips or cracks
or breaks at the lower trunk moldings, no stress cracks behind the
rear window on the fender. The car was given a paint job that cost
over $10,000, but the owner wasn't happy-it wasn't perfect. Within
a week he took it to another painter and paid over $10,000 again,
and this time is was done to his standards.
The car finally won 999 points at a car show in Florida, but it
didn't come easy. The owner wasn't happy until he hit that number.
He showed the car for years and years, asking the judges for
guidance. "Why are you deducting points? Why am I not winning? What
do I have to do?" He'd take the car home, put it up on blocks, lay
underneath, and clean every nook and cranny with a toothbrush and
q-tip. The car still shows that level of attention to detail.
If you're looking to win at the car show with a modified '57 Bel
Air, this is the Car Show King.
