1968 68 Vette Convertible. 454 6 SPD Has hardtop
and soft top. Car is a reuilb with a 454 full roller cam. ALso has
modern T56 6 spd. 6spd is Viper spec with larger output shaft and
internals. The first four gears are as the car performed with the
M22, then you have double overdrive. (6th gear is a .5) @80mhp
power windows, locks, steering. Tilt Steering and telescope
I had the car many years and put in new urethane bushing when i got the car.
in Ten years I've driven the car less than 1500 miles.
Car is more of a driver than a show car.
Added 32 new photos of frame undercarriage . Frame is completely rust free and totally solid. Not even any soft spot anywhere
Brakes were redone a few years ago but have less than 500 miles on them.
Brake cylinders from factory come with V style piston seals. I found a much better ORING style design that eliminates any leaking of brake fluid on the caliper pistons.
Rear end gear is original 3.73 ratio.
I am disclosing some possible item that may need some attention.
#1 the Wipers don't work. For me that was not a problem because that car is NEVER driven in the rain.
#3 turn signals did work at one time and flashers did not. But then I fixed the flashers and now turn signals don't work.
UPDATE on #3 I have gotten turn signals to work perfectly along with Emergency flasher that work fine.
#4 transmission and all gears work flawlessly with absolutely no problems. But as the gear shifter pattern is different with the 6 spd The gear shifter fits perfectly into the stock position and does not hit anywhere to the sides of consoul.
#5 new side pipes have been put in.
#6 new drive shaft
#7 new HEI ignition with cable driven tack
#8 carburetor freshly rebuilt.
#9 new steering box
#10 new thermostat control for electric fan on radiator.
#11 new battery
#12 complete polyurethane kit put along with new shocks.
#13. Water temp gauge works at 180 and does not go above 180 in heavy traffic.
The last thing that would make the 68 6SPd really great
would be a new Holley sniper EFI System. Up to 600hp. (
which Is cars max)
I've been investigating it. And seems to be a really final touch on his Vette. Modern day fuel injection with a 6spd, in an old school car. The system runs $1400 all in.
Would make this car one of a kind.
