1961 Studebaker Hawk Coupe Previous Black plate California car
Highly desirable Jade Green on Forest Green combination 289 cid V8
cylinder engine 2-speed automatic transmission Last year for the
model MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this extremely
rare and seldom seen 1961 Studebaker Hawk Coupe. During this period
in America's automotive history, manufacturers offered models an
array of beautiful pastel exteriors. This stylish Hawk was no
exception finished in an attractive factory color-- Jade Green--the
only year Studebaker used this color. Combined with a rich Forest
green cloth, brilliant aluminum and chrome trim, assured the owner
of this stunning Coupe it would not be lost in the "Coral" sea. For
1960, Studebaker dropped the Silver part of the name, leaving "just
plain" Hawk. Largely unchanged externally from the 1959,
internally, the major change was the return of the 289 cubic inch
V8 last used in 1958. This was the only engine available for U.S.
orders in both 1960 and 1961, the last year of the finned Hawk. The
1961 models saw the limited return of a second paint color, beige,
in a stripe along the base of the fin between the two lower
moldings. Interiors gained the option of wide, comfortable bucket
seats. Finished in a period correct Jade Green (# 6113), this coupe
shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon
close inspection. Contrasting Beige trim panel (only for 1961) on
the rear fenders. All the trim is present, complete, bright and
displays minimall wear. The front and rear bumpers fit is extremely
tight and finish is exquisite. The front grill(s) are in excellent
condition with only very small marring. The weather-stripping is
pliable, with little or no signs of drying, tearing or shrinkage.
The rear windows offer the "pop out" feature to aid in ventilation.
The original 15-inch steel wheels present well with only slight
signs of marring. Inside, the rich Forest Green front bucket and
rear seats with silver piping appear with normal with virtually no
wear spots visible. The matching green door panels, carpet and
dashboard (which shows some wear on the top) are a continuation of
the striking Forest Green interior of the car and look fantastic.
All gauges housed in the excellent "machined turned" panel are
ergonomically place have correct appearance and function as
originally designed. The originally equipped Studebaker steering
wheel is in excellent condition and heater and original equipment
AM push-button radio all function as designed. Included is the
original owner's manual. This nicely presented Studebaker is
equipped with a 2 barrel carbureted 289 cid V8 engine, mated to a
2-speed automatic transmission, power steering and drum brakes. The
wheels are 15-inch original Studebaker rims and full hub caps with
B.F. Goodrich wide whitewall tires. Why get lost in a sea of
Galaxie's, Bicayne's and Catalina's?, this one of less than 4000
built in 1961 Studebaker Hawk's will make sure of that doesn't
happen! GET OUT AND DRIVE! Current mileage on the odometer shows
11,181 miles, which the previous owner stated as original, but is
sold as is on a clean & clear mileage exempt title. VIN: 61V26463
