This coupe is the recipient of a recent frame-off restoration in brilliant black and grey metallic with tan leather. This coupe defies its age and stands tall with its stately appearance. The engine bay and underbody were painstakingly finished to a show-winning standard! Finished in a beautiful two-toned black and grey metallic scheme, the paint job shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. Front and rear bumpers (with "Cadillac" script embossed in black) are chrome and have an excellent fit and finish that show well. All trim pieces are present and have a brilliant finish with only very minor signs of age. The headlights and taillights are in very good condition with no hazing or cracks. Inside, the new custom Saddle Tan and Tobacco leather seats with room for three adults in front look great with no major signs of wear visible. Although offering modern comfort, they still retain the correct period appearance. Included is a custom console, matching carpet and floor mats. The door panels and dashboard are matched perfectly and compliment the exterior of the car. The art deco gauges offer enough contrast to enhance the entire interior. The wipers and horn are inoperable. The dash and door panels have a "hand-applied" custom wood graining patina. The headliner with the "dome" light mirrors the rest of the cabin. This custom treatment of the interior is tastefully extended into the trunk bay completes the theme The original equipment steering wheel is in great condition with normal wear and just a couple of small cracks. Included with this car is the parts/service receipts, 1939-1941 Cadillac and LaSalle Shop Manual and the original owner's manual. This nicely represented Cadillac makes 135 hp from its 346 cu. in. L-Head V-8 engine with a single Stromberg AAV-265 carburetor and linked to a three-speed manual transmission. It offered Knee-Action independent front suspension with unequal-length A-arms and coil springs, a torsion bar-type front ride stabilizer, a Hi-Plane Hotchkiss semi-floating rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs that eliminated axle vibrations and four-wheel super hydraulic drum brakes with a total swept area of 196 square inches. We learned that the motor was rebuilt during the restoration but have no receipts to back this up. The 16-inch steel wheel with Cadillac center caps surrounded by Coker Classic whitewall tires show very little signs of marring. In 2014, owner Robert Rooney of Woodword, Oklahoma, spent more than $4,000 in repairs on the vehicle, including brake work, exterior paint, suspension components, fuel tank replacement and work on the instrument panel gauges. For 1939, Series 61 replaced Series 60 and 65 of 1938. All V-8s had new grille styling; similar in appearance but different in detail dimensions on each series. The pointed center grille and the functional side grilles were die-cast with fine-pitch bars. A single die-cast louver was positioned to the rear of each hood side panel. Headlights were once again attached to the radiator casing. Series 61 cars came with a 126-inch wheelbase and was available with or without running boards; had concealed door hinges except for the lower front hinge; and had chrome reveals on all windows. Chassis changes included: tube-and-fin radiator core, seashell horns under the plugs, cross-link steering and slotted disc wheels.
