This is a rare opportunity to own one of the lowest original mileage HEMI Road Runner's, numbers matching, in existence.
Other than the Rapid Transit System factory show car, this may be the lowest miles 1969 Plymouth Hemi Hardtop Road Runner, having only 4100 miles showing on the odometer. This original ultra low miles vehicle is special in that it helped directly build the mystique of the Muscle Car era by setting a world record in the AHRA B/Stock Automatic class. This car has its original sheet metal, original matching numbers engine, transmission, differential carrier, and interior, right down to the original carpet
This car also has a very rare factory Hardware and Final Line Build Sheet, used by the factory assemblers as it came down the assembly line. Few, if any, are known to exist other than this example. It measures approximately 18 inches in height by 24 inches in width and shouldn't be confused with the much smaller "Build Sheet" found in some Chrysler vehicles, under the seats, carpet, or even taped to the glove box.
You are looking at a car that helped shape the thinking of more than one generation as to what a "Muscle Car" is, or should be. The brain child of clever engineers and marketing personnel, the 1969 Hemi Road Runner is considered to be a high water mark among many true muscle car aficionados for its low frills and big bang for the buck high performance. Motor Trend magazine agreed the job was so well done that they named the Hemi Road Runner "Car of the Year" in 1969.
This vehicle has not been restored, it was repainted once approximately 25 years ago, lightly freshened and maintained throughout the years. The ring and pinion were changed when it set the B-Stock record and were not touched since. Just a note of clarification for those not familiar with the AHRA B-Stock Automatic class, modifications from stock were very limited, no inner wheel well mods, no back half mods, etc. The undercarriage on this car is as it came from the factory, nothing has ever been cut.
