This low mileage, one-owner, California car was imported from Germany and lovingly cared for by the same family for 46 years! The car's original owner bought it in Germany to travel around Europe in 1970 with his father. In 1971, he relocated to California and the car came with him. The car remained on its original California pink slip from 1972 through 2016, 44 years in total! Finished in its original shade of brilliant gold metallic, this coupe shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. The windshield has a small chip on the driver's side (below eye-level). All the trim is present, complete and displays normal wear. The front and rear bumpers fit is extremely tight and finish is exquisite. There is a small dent in the rear valance. The tail ends in small rear deck lid lip spoiler and the car has a slight window tinting that compliments and completes the "sport" appearance. The upgraded 15-inch wheels represent well with only slight signs of marring or curb rash. Inside, the rich tan cloth front bucket seats and rear seats appear with normal with only slight wear spots on the drivers seat's outside bolster visible. The matching tan door panels, carpet and dashboard are a continuation of the striking gold exterior of the car and look fantastic. All gauges are ergonomically placed, have the correct appearance and function as originally designed except the temperature gauge is inoperable. The originally equipped leather steering wheel is in excellent condition. The extremely clean and roomy interior has its original heater and stereo. This nicely represented Opel comes equipped with a single downdraft carbureted, 1.9 liter inline four-cylinder engine, mated to a four-speed, floor mounted manual transmission, hydraulically powered disc brakes at front, drum brakes at rear and Euro-tuned (Ansa) exhaust. The wheels are a plus two upgrade, 15-inch chrome meshed alloy with sport rated tires. It should be noted that the original 13-inch wheels, hub caps and tires are also included. The Opel Rekord Series C was introduced in August 1966 as a replacement for the Series B. It was slightly larger all around than its predecessor, from which it inherited most of its engines. The Rekord C's design has been characterized by some enthusiasts as "erotic" due to the "hip-curve" on the lower window-line ahead of the C-pillar, which reminded some folks of a soda bottle, giving rise to the term, "Coke-bottle beltline." The car proved to be a solid hit with the public: it was reliable, roomy and pleasant to look at. When you think of Opel automobiles from the '70s, you think of Cadets, Mantas and GTs.
