STORY OF A 1937 FORD BUSINESS SEDAN
It seems that 79 years ago things where a bit different. A new house cost $4,100.00, the average wage was $1,780.00 per year, cost of a gallon of gas was 10 cents and a new car would go for about $760.00.
Carl Hansen was the first owner of this car. He was my first husbands grandfather. I was first introduced to the business sedan in 1960 when Stans mother died in Lander, Wyoming. They were very proud of their car.It was their special prize and was housed in a garage in the back yard on their property on Canyon St. Im sure it was only used to go to church on Sundays. We have the original speedometer and it reads 44,000 total miles. Its also interesting on the title for motor vehicle it shows that there was a line put on it for $25,000 in 1983.
Stan and Donna (thats me) actually acquired the car after Stans father died and it was moved to Jackson, Wyoming and still kept in a garage. There was some work done on it to keep it in a running order. Stan had it painted and was very unhappy with the paint job. After that it was hardly ever shown. It was taken to Trout Creek, Montana for several years, part of his collection of classic cars.
Then after Stan died, I got title to it again in 2013. We went to Trout Creek with the cargo hauler and picked it up, took it to a friend who is a retired mechanic and had the engine worked over to make sure we could drive it. The next year we trailered it to Lake Havasu, Arizona where we had several more things done, we changed the electrical system to 12-volt, had electronic brakes installed, put turn signals on, updated the dials on the dash and added a tail light cause there was only one, and had it painted - original black.
The 1937 Ford is also a movie star. It was driven by Wally Cox who played the part of the preacher Clyde Goodman in Spencers Mountain which was filmed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 1963. --- Ask About Our On-The-Spot Financing! CALL (800)488-0258
