Vehicle Description
They didn't get much lower, wider, or longer than the 1975 Cadillac
Coupe DeVille. But with a big V8 and great 70s-style paint, it
almost doesn't need its celebrity connection to grab attention.
This is a two-owner car that has been cherished all its life, and
you can really see that in the details. Bombay Yellow is one of
those colors that look great on an angular 70s design. This one
looks particularly nice because the factory color was re-sprayed
about four years ago by Steve Hale (as in Steve's Restorations on
the TV show American Restoration.) So you know the previous owner
paid for quality. Beyond just a good story, a Caddy like this is
really starting to come into its own. People are beginning to
really love the sharp edge design that is accented everywhere by
chrome. The best examples of this is the front bumper that boldly
comes to a central point, and the upright rear reflectors that gave
these Cadillacs a hint of the iconic tailfin. But this one even
gets the little details right with pieces like the new matching
"halo" half vinyl roof, the intact plastic fender endcaps, and even
the correct original hubcaps.
Cadillac is synonymous with luxury, and the interior is where you
always get the best reminders of this. It's a time capsule of a
DeVille that comes loaded with the kind of options that you would
even want on a brand new car, such as power windows, power seats,
cruise control, and tilt/telescoping steering wheel. All of these
controls have a cool classic look and feel, but best of all, these
features still functions perfectly. In fact, the air conditioning
recently been updated to make sure everything stays cool inside.
The stereo is an AM/FM/CD unit, but it is mounded in the glovebox
so you can get modern tunes without spoiling the vintage
atmosphere. But the best indicator that this is a cherished
original classic are the brown leather seats. They have a bit of
wear from use over the years, but noting lasts 40+ years in this
kind of condition without someone keeping a constant eye on
preservation.
A Cadillac is a cool cruiser, and there's a lot going on beneath
the metal. Under the hood is the monstrous 500 cubic-inch V8 motor
that looks as honest as the day it left the Detroit factory.
Because this coupe has been about authenticity so much already, it
should be no surprise that this is a numbers-matching car. In fact,
this motor has less than 60,000 miles, which averages to less than
1,500 miles per year over its life. And this cared-for Caddy's V8
has been about proactive maintenance, including new gaskets,
exhaust manifold gaskets, water pump, power steering belt, intake
gasket, head gasket, and a new thermostat. It has the reliability
and power to keep up with the modern cars, and the cruising
attitude is heightened by a smooth-shifting three-speed automatic
transmission, power steering, and power brakes with discs up
front.
We have plenty of paperwork, including the original warranty card,
owner's manual, and restoration receipts to prove to you that this
is your cherished classic with daily driver potential. The budget
price and interesting story are just the cherries on top. Call
