For Sale: 1997 Renault Sport Spider Trophy in West Palm Beach, Florida
RENAULT SPORT SPIDER! CHASSIS #10005! SADEV SEQUENTIAL 6-SPEED GEARBOX! FASTIDIOUSLY MAINTAINED WITH DOCUMENTED HISTORY! FRESH ROTORS AND CARBON CERAMIC PADS! TRACK-READY! STUNNING! Finished in Silver Metallic exterior paint featuring a lightweight aluminum chassis with carbon honeycomb floors and composite body panels. This 1997 Renault Sport Spider Trophy has enjoyed a more sheltered life than many of the examples that raced through the One Marque Series that traveled throughout Europe. Hand assembled at Dieppe, France. Chassis # 10005 was to be used as a demonstrator for the Stillborn, US-equivalent Spider Trophy series. It would later enjoy use as a highly competent track-day machine and occasional historic racer. This fine example is equipped with the state of the art Sadev sequential 6-Speed straight cut gearbox. This unit has enjoyed regular maintenance and is described to exhibit smooth operations with stellar shift speeds. Purchased in 2001 by the seller, the car was previously used as a pace car for the St. Petersburg Grand Prix and in driver’s education events. Following this, the decision was made by the current owner to start with a clean slate and rebuild the F7R 2.0 16V inline-four. The racing experts at Zotz Racing in Florida were commissioned to carry out the engine overhaul. The engine is currently described as to having very little actual race time since the rebuild. All receipts for the work are well documented and included with the sale. This Spider Trophy has recently had it’s braking system serviced, with new brake rotors from Renault Sport, carbon ceramic brake pads and brake fluid was changed. This fine example is described to deliver remarkable on-track performance. It uses a 2.0L 4-cyclinder F7R engine that powers the Renault Clio and Megane coupe producing 145hp which more is than adequate on a car weighing less than 1900lbs. The mid-engine layout is ideal for a sports car with the weight of the engine over the rear wheels increasing traction during acceleration while improving handling. Additional spare contents being sold with the car, 1 spare set of Renault Sport/OZ F1 Cup Wheels, 1 set of brake rotors, spare clutch, and spare water pump. Includes Renault Sport technical service manual, parts manual and documentation with service and maintenance records. All original. Superb!
