An Exceptional Example!
This GNX has been repainted in its original Black that looks as perfect as it did when the car left the factory. It of course has the GNX badging, the side engine vents and the flared wheel wells that were unique to this limited production series of cars.
The seat upholstery is all original and looks as clean as when new. The only change that has been made is the installation of a more modern radio, but the original comes with the car and can be reinstalled if total originality is desired.
As the pictures show, the GNX’s have their own special Garrett turbochargers with lightweight ceramic impellers. The engines were specially upgraded by ASC/McLaren to maximize performance, including a unique computer chip and low-restriction exhaust. They achieved the goal of shaving a full second off the already blazing 0-60 times of the stock GN.
The transmissions were Turbo Hydramatic 200-4Rs modified for firmer shifts and coupled with custom torque converters and transmission coolers.
Equipped with special performance suspension, the GNXs had a rear axle longitudinal torque bar and a Panhard rod.
Quick to get up to speed, it was critical that the GNX have adequate stopping power. Buick/ASC/McLaren answered that need with power brakes—disc in the front and drum in the rear.
The unique feature of these cars is that they were as much at home for a trip to church with the family as they were on the track. They featured:

Finding example of the 547 GNXs is a difficult challenge, but finding one with only 7,500 miles is a rarity! Add to that all of the original paperwork and the GNX apparel and you have a one-in-a-kind car! Bear in mind that unlike modern “limited production muscle cars” there will never be any more than the handful produced by ASC/McLaren back in 1987.
