55,900 original miles.(41847J229755), It is just the way it
was built over 50 years ago. It has the original 283
and Powerglide transmission. Only two owners for the first 46
years. The original owner ordered it when he was 54 years old and
kept it until 1991. A neighbor lady 47 years old bought it
and owned it until 2010 selling it to a man 20 miles away who kept
it until October 2013 when he sold it to a broker that I bought it
from. It has always been stored inside and shows it. There are some
registrations and copies of titles back to 1967.
The original window sticker, build sheet, shippers invoice, owners
manual, warranty book, tire warranty and keys are all with the car.
It is equipped just the way it was ordered with the only add-ons
are the dealer installed seat belts and rear over the shock helper
springs with 1970s instructions. The interior is almost perfect,
The glass is like new. Everything works except the clock. I pulled
the motor to replace the seals only. I flushed the block and
cleaned it up. I did not pull the heads. The engine looked amazing.
I wire brushed the under belly and applied a light coat of
undercoat. It had only light surface rust but wanted to look like
new and keep it preserved. The gas tank was pulled and flushed and
sprayed with a light coat of aluminum paint. It has the original
u-joints and are still good. They are usaually the first thing to
go. The front end is tight and I believe all original. The brakes
and wheel cylinders where replaced in 2011 at 55,223 miles. I
replaced the original radiator , heater core, water pump and spark
plug wires and have them all except the radiator. The carburater
was rebuilt and still original. Hoses were replaced and clamps were
replaced with oringinal style. The exhaust is all new. All 5
matching tires are like new and the spare has never been on the
ground. I believe the car was repainted in 1993 by the second
owner. The picture with the white fence is taken just after
that. There were some ugly touch-up spots done sometime after that
with the worst one being a small one about 1/4 inch on the hood
that bugged the heck out of me. Against the advice of some but the
recommendation of a friend I took it to someone he trusted to do a
refresh paint job. His prep was excellent, the paint looks great
but the clear shows specs in certain light. They are hard to see
and only with florecent lighting. Just trying to be up
front. It is beautiful and impressive but less than 100 %
perfect. Some of the pictures are from the broker I bought it from
showing how nice it was and how little has been done to keep it
looking like new. The chrome is all original but has some small
door dings. I tore down the bumpers and cleaned them from behind. I
know of no damage or rust repair anywhere anytime. The trunk looks
like new. The car sounds solid and runs like a dream. The
doors are tight and sound like they sould when you shut them. You
can tell what messed with sounds like and this isn't one of
them. I enjoyed working on the car and doing the research of
it's history. I have heard stories of the owners and even the
salesman. I have made a history book with order date, engine and
tranny build dates, production date, shipping date, delivery date
and ownership.
I have got the Willy's Jeep fever and now working on a 48 and a
49 and a 56.
This is not a Hot Rod and hope it is preserved. It was very well
taken care of and should last another 50 years with a little love
and care. I believe the condition and documentation is rare
and would make anyone proud to own, drive and show it.
