Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to offer a very sharp 1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible. Introduced in the same year as it's GM cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro, the Firebird was another pony car in the race initially started by the Ford Mustang. Pontiac brought to the game a similar Coke-Bottle shape to the Camaro, but with a unique integrated chrome grill and bumper. The Firebird came with a lineup of engines to choose from. Options ranged from a mundane 230 CID Inline 6 cylinder to a fire breathing Ram Air 400 CID V8. The mid range was a 326 CID V8 which was a nice choice for affordable horsepower. This particular example features the original 326 CID V8 which sports a 2 barrel carburetor. The original transmission would've been a 2 speed automatic transmission, which has been swapped out with a much more exciting 4 speed manual. It's tough to beat a bright red convertible muscle car with a 4 speed. The interior is clean black vinyl which is in great shape. The car is believed to be on just its third owner and was fully restored by the previous owner. Since it's restoration, maintenance has been kept up with. Recent service includes: steering pump, gaskets, hoses, rear main seal, water pump, oil pump, clutch, timing chain, fly wheel, radiator, starter, thermostat, and new tires. The car runs great, looks even better, and certainly is begging to be driven. For the past 8 years it has been a fair weather driver only, and was always stored indoors. There are plenty of Camaros and Mustangs floating around out there, but a nice Firebird convertible is one that will stand out in a crowd at a car show. You can see this Firebird in greater detail in our Dallas showroom, or by visiting www.GatewayClassicCars.com.
