is pleased to present this documented 1968 Mercedes-Benz 200D that
for all practical purposes was a one owner car. The original owner
is the absolute epitome of a true Southern Bell. This southern lady
purchased the car new from Snyders Auto Sales, in Greenville, South
Carolina with only 800 miles on the clock! She lovingly owned the
car for 12 years, then one day, reluctantly sold it to a friend,
where it stayed with them for 10 years. After suffering a ten year
case of seller's remorse, she bought the car back from her friend.
The car remained with her for the next 25 years. The bright Signal
red finish of this 1 of 575"fintail" Benz defies its age and
reflects the loving care it has received since new. TheW110was
Mercedes-Benz 's line of midsize automobilesin the mid-1960s. One
of Mercedes' "Fintail" series. This second series of 4-cylinder
cars were produced between 1965-1968. The OM621 diesel engine in
the 200D was essentially identical to that of the 190Dc, but was
improved by using a five main bearing crankshaft instead of the
original three. Visually, the second series models had the front
indicators relocated from the top of the front fenders to below the
headlights. At the rear, the tail lights were enlarged and squared
off and the chrome trim was revised (including the removal of the
chrome trim from the trailing edge of the tailfins). All models now
featured air outlets with chrome trim on the C-pillars. Inside,
there were very few changes except all models now featured
reclining front seats. Re-finished in a beautiful Signal Red,
Signal Red Mercedes were extremely rare in Europe and even more so
in the United States! This paint job shows well with only minor
imperfections visible upon close inspection. Front and rear bumpers
have an excellent fit and finish that show well. The trim pieces
are all present and have a bright but a normal wear finish patina
to them. The weather-stripping surround the doors and glass are
good condition but showing a little sign of drying with minimal
tearing and shrinkage. The U.S. spec Headlights and taillights are
in very good condition with no hazing and compliment the rest of
the exterior. The 13 inch original wheels are in very good
condition showing little or no marring and curb rash. Inside, the
black MB-Tex seats all look good with only a few minor tears major
and wear visible. good tan molded mats throughout the interior.
The black door panels and dashboard are matched with each other and
are a nice contrast to exterior of the car. The headliner mirrors
the floor of the cabin and completes the theme. The original
equipment leather wrapped steering wheel is in very good condition
with only minor cracks. The fuel gauge and horn are inoperable.
The AM/FM Sanyo tape player functions as designed Included with
