This car was recently painted (2015) is the truly classic German car enthusiast find! Purchased new from Atlas Volkswagen, San Francisco, California, 4/30/1973, and it stills stands as correct today as it did the day it left the Bay area! Volkswagen capitalized on the overwhelming popularity of their Beetle by following “the people’s car” with a sporty sister: the Karmann Ghia. Produced from 1956 to 1974, the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia shared the Beetle’s reliable running gear, the response to the car’s introduction was so positive that it quickly became one of America’s most imported vehicles. Refinished in a beautiful Bright Orange paint job shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. Front and rear bumpers fit properly and chrome shows extremely well, including the override bumper guards. All trim is present and finish is bright. Weather stripping is newer for both doors, front and rear glass stripping is good condition with very little shrinkage in the front. Inside, the original black vinyl seats all look great with no major signs of wear visible. The door panels compliment the seats and dashboard is designed to mirror the cabin and compliment the exterior of the car. The original steering wheel displays well with no real signs of wear. This Karman Ghia is equipped with a 1.6L boxer 4 cylinder engine, single Solex carburetor, 4 speed manual transmission, front disc and rear drum brakes, and 15 inch original steel wheels (with polished VW crest center caps) on 195/65-15 all four corners This Ghia will take you back to a simpler time of bell bottom plaids and platform shoes.
