Yutaka Katayama, father of the Z car, would be proud to own this particular 280Z with its extensive documentation and history! This early manufactured 280Z was sold brand new with only 135 miles on the odometer on June 29,� 1978 from George Grubbs Datsun in Bedford Texas. Recent professional respray of correct color,Wine Red metallic (code 611) and still in new show quality condition. All of the panels fit well. The doors open freely, do not sag and shut without problem. �All the Chrome on the bumpers look great and also include the rare original accessory bumper overrider bars. All the aluminum trim is there, in great shape, dent free, including the surrounding windshield. The chrome light bezels in the rear taillights are excellent with no hazing or pitting. Matter of fact, all the lenses and other lights are great shape, and defy showing� their age. The wheels are a vintage set of 14 inch polished aluminum wheels, wrapped in a nice set of 195/60-14 tires with deep tread and even wear. The interior gets even better. The well preserved Black vinyl interior seems to be the original as all the textures and materials are correct. The seats, still retaining the metal back breathers, looks as if normal wear and tear forgot about them and moved on to a different car! The carpeting fits well for an older car and shows no signs of shrinking, eroding or discoloring. The headliner appears original The door panels are clean, and the top sills are not dried out, torn or ripped from sun exposure. The dashboard is completely crack free, which is unusual for a vehicle of the era and is extremely telling on just how well this Z was cared for by Ms. Corcoran. Nestled nicely in this extremely tidy engine bay of this Datsun comes equipped with a Bosch L-Jetronic injection 2.8L inline 6 cylinder number matching engine, with all the Zinc pieces looking �factory fresh. Coupled with a optional 5-speed manual transmission, rear wheel drive, 14 inch alloys with B.F. Goodrich tires, power brakes, air conditioning, rear defroster and Jensen AM/FM cassette stereo. Also included is the original owners manual, stamped service booklet, and pre-delivery inspection. Probably nowhere in the country will you find a more original 1978 Datsun Z as this Texas dry, one owner example.
