1976, the US Bicentennial, the first Rocky, the first Concorde
flight, Viking lander on Mars...
Original chooser: I was 13 years old. We needed a new car. Mom
liked the Grand Prix; Dad liked the Firebird. Across the Pontiac
lot I saw this beauty. Six years later, Dad sold it to me for a
dollar. In ’92 I bought another Pontiac and put “Spirit” in
storage. In ’13 I finally got it out and had Resort Restore of Hot
Springs start restoration. In Oct ’14, after some minor engine work
and new tires, I drove it for the first time in 21 years.
Resort Restore did a terrific job on the exterior. The new paint
job is Bavarian cream and the quarter vinyl top is buckskin, both
like the original. I have put quite a bit into it; unfortunately, I
live overseas now and probably will not get back for one last road
trip. It’s still at the restoration shop being taken care of. If
you’re interested in giving “Spirit” a new home, please contact me
with your questions.
