Nearly 30,000 TD's were produced between 1950-1953, including about 1700 Mk II models, when the series ended in 1953 all but 1656 were exported, 3,488 of them to the US alone. An example tested by The Motor magazine in 1952 had a top speed of 77 mph (124 km/h) and could accelerate from 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 18.2 seconds. A fuel consumption of 26.7 miles per imperial
gallon was recorded.
