Vehicle Description
1956 Lancia Appia Furgoncino Series 2 Vannette
Chassis No. C80-1902 - Engine No. 12547
Only about 2,900 Appia Series 2 Forgoncinos were built between 1954 and 1959. Engine: V4, overhead valve, light alloy head, 1,090cc., 36.5bhp at 2,000rpm; Gearbox: four-speed manual column change; Suspension: front coil springs, rear rigid axle with semi-elliptic springs; Brakes: four wheel drum. The options of the Lancia Appia were the commercial variants, ranging from little pickups to vans such as this Series 2 Furgoncino. Ideally made for zipping around the narrow Italian streets or crossing unmade country roads, This vannette was beautifully restored in Switzerland to a very high standard and is presented in complete and correct condition with two-tone grey paintwork. Virtually new and used sparingly since its ground-up restoration, it would be the perfect advertising or support vehicle for any business. While more modest than some of the mid-fifties racecar transporters, it is absolutely charming and would be welcomed at the period revival meetings.
