This gorgeous 2004 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. Introduced in 1969 the Mach 1 was an instant success with 5 engine variations. Anything from the basic 351 2V Windsor all the way up to the fire breathing 428 super cobra jet. Of course performance was a big part of the "Mach 1" package but really it was more about the appearance. Only available in the sport coupe, as it was called in 69, this really was just a different way of saying fastback. Regardless of the motor all Mach 1's would have the matte black hood with the shaker scoop, as well as front chin and rear spoilers, it was an instant success. The Mach 1 would continue even through the Mustang II years but with weak sales and the performance just not there Ford would discontinue the model in 78. As with all of the muscle car performers of the late 60's Ford would reintroduce the Mach 1 name plate in 03 due to the need of a car that was both price and performance wise between the GT and the Cobra. Perfectly matched with not only price, but performance, the rereleased Mach 1 as with the original was an instant success. Using engine parts sourced from an array of different vehicles the Mach 1's engine was a true screamer. Although rated at a mere 305 HP many vehicles tested produced a substantial bit more and a ton of torque. In order to handle this power the drive train was beefed up with Tremec providing an excellent 5 speed transmission. This is hooked up to an 8.85 rear end that has been filled with 3.55 gears giving it a perfect balance of acceleration and top end speed. The sub frame connectors were "boxed" units making the chassis much stronger. Ofcourse with the performance side of things handled the next issue is styling. While the "new edge" mustang's had a lot of styling from cue's from the original the Mach 1 would, like the original, would add to this. Starting with a flat black accented hood instead of a full flat black hood but the classic "shaker" scoop was still sticking out the middle. Some even say that the hood scoop is made from the same mold as the 70 Mach 1 though Ford has never confirmed nor denied that. This particular 04 is actually the rarest of all the manual new edge Mach 1's with its Screaming yellow paint. The car has had an aftermarket Borla exhaust installed giving it not only more power but a sound that only a Borla can make. With these cars steadily becoming more and more sought after you may want to grab this one. With it being a 3 owner, less than 30k miles, and a clean Autocheck, this is an excellent contender for someone's growing collection.
