In the mid 1970's, auto enthusiast Jon Tedesco recognized that Americans were in love with the concept of foreign luxury cars, especially the Rolls Royce. Since the 'Rolls' was out of financial reach of most of the population, he set out to build an image car that more people could afford. Using a new '76 Chevy Monte Carlo, he added design cues and some actual parts from a Rolls Royce to create the Custom Cloud. When the car came to the attention of the British firm at the New York auto show, they acted quickly to put an end to this venture. As a result, only a couple hundred or so 'Clouds' were built even though public reaction in the States was very positive. A Cloud was featured on the cover of the March, 1976 issue of Car and Driver magazine.
