Vehicle Description
You read it right ONLY 21k miles on this very rare 1960 Chevrolet Corvair Deluxe 700 2 door Club Coupe Survivor! Bought new at Feld Chevrolet in St Louis, Missouri in February of 1960, from there the vehicle spent most of it’s life in Springfield, MO. Corvair’s were most noted for their engine in the trunk and trunk under the hood configuration. Some major advantages to this was first handling and also great fuel efficiency (granted, good gas mileage in 1960 was certainly not as much of a big deal as it is today!) This specific Corvair still retains it’s original drivetrain , deluxe interior and mostly original factory Cascade Green paint. Under the bonnet (in the rear) is the factory original 140 cid ‘Flat-6' engine pushing 80 brake horsepower. With so few original miles, this rare Corvair steers, stops and turns great and glides along smoothly on 6.50 x13? wide white wall bias-ply tires. Inside the cockpit, simple and functional -a seat, a steering wheel, wonderful paddle style gear selector, a 100mph speedometer and a radio. Corvairs are pretty basic but when you put it all together in terms of weight distribution a peppy engine in a lightweight body, it works out well in the performance arena. Included in sale, is a spare car cover, the original Owners Guide/Warranty Manual and dealership literature including an interesting array of nostalgic Corvair photo prints. **Forget what Ralph Nader said…Corvair’s are some of the greatest cars to ’survive’ the 1960's era!
