Vehicle Description
1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible The 1940 Ford has a beautiful look
that has been the base for street rods all over the world. While
customizing has its appeal the original appearance of these cars is
one of the most beautiful examples of automotive design out there.
From the fender shape to the perfect touches of trim these cars
just reinforce the saying of "they don't make them like they used
to." The all steel 1940 Ford Convertible you see here is
undoubtedly one of the nicest still in existence. Its all original
appearance always draws a crowd wherever it goes. The car was
restored in 1997 by Hatfield Restorations who are known for their
high quality work. It is painted all Black which contrasts
perfectly with all of the original chrome and trim. The front/rear
original bumpers are in place as are the original door handles,
taillights, headlights, and antenna. The Buckskin convertible top
is in great condition and all power operated from the factory. It
is pretty neat to see original power options like that on a car
that is over 70 years old! All of the glass on the car is in good
shape and it has the correct 2 piece windshield up front. Under
each corner are steel wheels with Ford Deluxe dog dish hubcaps but
the car also comes with the original 600 16 wheels and tires. The
steel wheels are painted to match the top and interior creating a
great look. Powering the car is the original 239 flathead motor
that runs and drives great. It is one of the smoothest idling
flatheads you will come across. It was all rebuilt by a known
flathead builder and great care was taking to maintain the original
components. It is paired with a 3 speed manual transmission that
shifts smoothly. A Columbia 2 speed rear end is found in back
allowing the car to cruise down the road comfortably whether you
are driving around town or getting on the highway. The interior of
the car is done in Tan and the upholstery is from LeBaron Bonney.
It utilizes the original split bench seat up front with a bench in
the rear. The convertible top boot is very easy to put in place and
fits well. The dash has that all original look and is fitted with
all of the correct knobs, switches, etc. The original faux wood
dark red/brown trim pieces are in place and match the original two
tone steering wheel. A radio is in place but one of the knobs is
not functioning correctly so a 2nd radio will come with the car in
addition to the original wheels. Look around and you will see this
is on of the classiest looking vintage cars out there. Add this
classic to your collection for $63,250.00!
