1966 Dodge Coronet 500 Convertible NEWLY RESTORED JUNE 2017 by Jim Bradford, Lenoir City, TN: This model was top of the line in 1966, with only 3,000 Coronet 500 Convertibles produced. This one originally came with a 383 engine but now features a 440 8-cylinder big block gasoline engine, equivalent to the Coronet R/T which appeared a year later. I have owned this car continuously since fall 1965. My dad was a Dodge dealer. My brother and I ordered it new with every option except air conditioning, which I retrofitted through the heater controls during major restorations in 2001-2002 AND 2017. Dark Green with black interior including classic rolled and pleated upholstery, now in soft black leather. 4-speed manual stick shift in the floor. 181,267 miles but only a few hundred miles driven since the engine was rebuilt in 2002.
