Take a look at this BEAUTIFUL - VERY RARE - 1984 Porsche 928S "S2" Coupe !! The 928 was designed by Porsche to replace their flagship model, the 911. Ferdinand Porsche wanted a front engine luxury grand touring car that would appeal to a greater audience. The 928 was an engineering marvel compared to similar cars of the time and also represented several first's for Porsche; the company's only front engine V8 powered coupe and the company's first production V8 model. It is widely believed that approximately 3,000 Porsche 928S's were produced for the U.S market which makes this car VERY RARE. We purchased this 928 from the previous Idaho owner about 5 years ago with the intentions of restoring it and have discovered that parts are very scarce for these cars and we just do not have the time / resources to complete this car. With a little time and investment this 928 could make someone a GREAT grand touring car that you don't see every day. This Porsche 928S comes with a 100% CLEAN - CLEAR AutoCheck vehicle history report and a clean, clear title that is in our name. This 928S also still retains its - FACTORY ORIGINAL - A-pillar mounted VIN tag, FACTORY ORIGINAL driver's door jamb mounted data stickers and the FACTORY ORIGINAL Porsche 928S warranty & maintenance book, all of which are shown in several pictures. I have driven this German Beauty every once in a while for the last year as my everyday driver to and from the office and running errands as needed and it runs and drives well. It is a BLAST to drive!! This has been a NICE - DRY - SOLID - California - Idaho high mountain desert - western vehicle since it was bought NEW at Martin - Johnson Porsche / Audi in Oakland, California on December 19, 1983 !!
At the heart of this 928S is what appears to be the - STRONG - ORIGINAL - (234 Horsepower) 4.7 Liter Bosch Multi Port Fuel Injected - Single Overhead Cam - V8 motor that is running very well indeed. The motor also still retains it's ORIGINAL Aluminum Porsche intake manifold, ORIGINAL exhaust manifolds, ORIGINAL intake ducting, ORIGINAL air cleaner housing and the ORIGINAL Bosch fuel injection system. Sounds AWESOME too with the - "THROATY" - factory style exhaust system. The motor is backed by the ORIGINAL - VERY RARE - 5 speed manual transaxle that also functions well. We had all of the synchros replaced several months ago but first gear is still noisy and makes a chattering noise in the lower RPM range. If you have ever driven a 5 speed 928S you know first gear is only meant as a "hill gear" and this transaxle was meant to be shifted in a slow, deliberate fashion. If you speed shift a 928S you will pay for it. Only 15-20% of all US market 928S's were equipped with 5 speed manual gearboxes. The ORIGINAL Champagne and Brown Leather and Vinyl interior is in decent condition considering it is original including NICE ORIGINAL Champagne Leather and Vinyl full front bucket seats, good ORIGINAL Tan carpets, ORIGINAL 928S steering wheel, good ORIGINAL matching Champagne and Brown Vinyl door panels, good ORIGINAL Brown vinyl center console, ORIGINAL 928 floor mats, NICE ORIGINAL Brown Vinyl sun visors and the ORIGINAL Brown vinyl dash which is cracked / warped in several of the usual places. This 928S came nicely equipped from the factory including WORKING factory pop-up headlights, WORKING factory power sunroof, WORKING factory power windows, factory power steering that functions intermittently, factory power 4 way disc brakes, WORKING factory power side view exterior mirrors, WORKING factory power driver's seat (passenger seat is no longer working), factory gauge clusters with a working factory tachometer and a non-working 160 MPH speedometer, factory power door locks which are no longer working, factory rear window defogger, factory back-up lights, factory power wipers which are no longer working, factory air conditioning which is no longer working, WORKING heater and defroster, WORKING original clock, factory front and rear seat belts and an AWESOME Pioneer digital AM / FM / CD Player stereo radio. This vehicle is in decent mechanical condition and it runs and drives. With a little love this could make a GREAT 928S. The trunk sports the ORIGINAL carpet liner and the ORIGINAL space saver spare tire. The NICE - Code "662" - Quartz Grey Metallic exterior finish on this 928S is BEAUTIFUL and is showing some wear including some very small chips / dings / imperfections as you can clearly see in the video and the 100 ADDITIONAL PICTURES included.
Check out the AWESOME - NEARLY PERFECT Porsche chrome wheels with correct Porsche center caps wrapped in NEARLY NEW Hankook 225/50R16 steel belted radials that look AMAZING on this Classic V8 Porsche and really give it that CLEAN - "Original" - look !!
If you have been looking but cannot find a NICE - RUNNING - VERY RARE - 1984 Porsche 928S look NO further because this is the one !! I looked underneath and also included pictures of the undercarriage below. In my opinion you're not going to find much nicer ORIGINAL FLOORS than the ones on this BEAUTY, UNBELEIVABLE !!
