Vehicle Description
Very well appointed Deluxe Cabriolet with a superbly executed,
older restoration! Retains show worthy appeal throughout with
absolute touring capabilities! A host of welcome features make
this Model 68 drop top one to truly admire sitting still, and out
on the open road! Further refined body lines and improved
suspension, the 1936 Ford is arguable one of the most desirable of
collectible Fords! The Center-Poised suspension, new grill
design, wider stance, better weight distribution, it can be said it
was certainly one of the best driving examples they ever made to
that date! We are very pleased to offer this 1936 Ford Deluxe
Rumble-Seat Cabriolet finished in Poppy Red with Brown Leather
seating surfaces & matching naugahyde interior surround, and
beautiful Tan Stayfast canvass convertible top! Powered by an
updated Canadian-cast C59A 221ci Flathead V8 producing 85hp and
3-speed manual transmission, it starts up and runs with great
ease. It features a new electric fuel pump & filter, tuned
Stromberg 91-99 carburetion, correct 6-volt generator charging
system, 24-stud heads, and period correct engine details
throughout! It performs wonderfully, and starts without any
issues! Options include working AM radio with original under dash
speaker box, BF Goodrich heater, amber GE fog lamps, rear rumble
seat, rear-mounted spare tire with painted steel cover, fender
skirts, dual outside mirrors, trumpet horns, beveled glass interior
rearview mirror, V8 exhaust turn-down tip, front cowl vent,
electric windshield wipers, front & rear bumper guards, and The
Lester Tire Co. 6.00-16" 4-ply wide whitewall tires! This example
comes to us from the former owner of the last 4 years where it was
part of a very large collection located in Quebec, Canada. He was
a prominent car dealer in that area and was able to tuck away a
great number of personal pieces of the years, ultimately totaling
several hundred cars! The cars in his collection were always
maintained regularly and ready to be enjoyed at a moment's notice.
Each were driven sparingly, just often enough to ensure they
stayed lubricated and in drivable condition. This Cabriolet
showcases a restoration completed prior to his ownership, likely
finished about 15 years ago. It will showcase only minor visible
wear from being driven, but overall continues to show quite well in
all respects! The chrome and bright work remain very sharp, the
convertible top looks brand new, as does the leather interior
completed by Bertrand Dionne. Both front and rear passenger
compartment possess floor carpeting, and snap-in access panels are
provided for easy cleaning. The under hood presentation is highly
detailed with correct radiator hoses/clamps & "water" cap, Ford
Motor Company generator, decal stickers, cloth-covered engine
wiring harness, spark plugs & wiring, etc. Inside the passenger
compartment, a battery cut-off was added to the firewall for
battery preservation while in storage. Along with all the factory
gauges, which all appear to working perfectly, you will a set of
extra gauges under the dash to compliment the originals while in
use. These are a more accurate water temperature and oil pressure
gauge. Lastly, integrated turn signals for optimum safety while
out for cruises! It is becoming more and more difficult for us to
find honest, original examples such as this one on the open market
today. Many cannot be pried from the hands of owners, while others
have already left for overseas collections, and some that fall
victim to customizers and street rodders. Granted, this example
retains an all steel body, spare tire cover, & running boards, the
fenders were replaced for fiberglass reproduction versions during
the restoration. We feel this super solid, original example
represents itself very well and should make for a great touring and
weekend show car! Please feel free to call with additional
questions or to schedule your chance to view it firsthand! Thanks
for looking!
