The Hot new restyled Corvettes were in the spotlight for Chevrolet in 1980, with the L-82 as their leader. Of the 40,514 Corvettes built for 1980 only 5,069 were L-82's. The 1980 Corvette received new crossed flag emblems, side scoops and front and rear bumper's with integral spoilers. Radiator flow increased about 50% over previous C3 Corvette's. The integrated spoilers improved the drag coefficient from .503 to .443 compared to the 1979 model equipped with the optional non-integrated spoilers. After several years of weight increases, the Corvette was much lighter in 1980 as engineers trimmed weight by using lower density roof panels, reducing the thickness of the hood and outer doors and using aluminum for the differential housing and cross member making it the lightest Corvette in 10 years. For improved surface quality, urethane was applied during molding to panels forward of the firewall and roof panels.
This "RARE" 1980 Corvette Stingray L-82 is a once in a lifetime deal. It spent most of its life in Las Vegas Nevada. I'm selling it for a friend. His Mother was the original owner. According to family members, their mother, after seeing a Silver 1980 Corvette Stingray L-82 on display at one of the major casinos, fall in love with it and had to have one. In August 1980 her husband walked into a Las Vegas Chevrolet dealer and placed an order for one. He ordered it just like the casino car. They did a dealer trade and they were able to get him one in a week. He took delivery and gave it to his wife as a wedding anniversary present. The car came with glass T-Tops and because of the harsh desert sun they had the dealer change it to the standard T-Tops. This car was truly loved and Well Maintained. It spent most of its life under a carport and was rarely driven. It was serviced regularly. Any needed repairs were done immediately. Most of the work was done at the same Las Vegas, Nevada Chevrolet dealer it was purchased from. Now due to medical and financial reasons, it must be sold. There loss is your gain.

The car was parked most of its life under a carport in the Las Vegas sun. It took a toll on the paint, interior, weather-stripping and rubber. It was sent out for a complete new paint job. Every nick and flaw was taken out. The body was professionally prepped and the original Corvette Silver paint was applied. It was hand sanded, several coats were sprayed on, color sanded and buffed. The Motor and Undercarriage was Cleaned and Detailed. Most of the Interior, Carpet, Headliner, Door Panels, Armrest, Sun Visors, Seat Upholstery, Dash, Weather-Stripping and Rubber (Doors, Door Frame, Hood, Window Felts ect...) have all been replaced. Most of the emblems have been replaced with N.O.S.
Several changes, upgrades and repairs were done during the restoration. The Air Conditioning System was converted from R-12 to R-134A. The Hoses, Compressor, Condenser, Accumulator Dryer, ect.. were replaced New! The Brakes, Calipers, Rotors, Pads, Master Cylinder, Brake Lines, Wheel Seals, Bearings (inner & outter) and Rear Pinion Seal were all Replaced New! New Exhaust System, Alternator, Shocks, Power Door Locks and Window Motors. Rebuilt Carburetor, Complete Tune Up, Replaced all Fluids (motor, trans, rear end, cooling system) New Tires, Hoses, Belts and Valve Cover Gaskets. The Console, Dash and Gauge Bezels were upgraded to Carbon Fiber. The Complete Interior was upgraded from Dark Claret (blood red) to Black. The Radio and power Antenna were sent out, cleaned and rebuilt to work like new. The 4 Speakers (dash & rear) were replaced with new.
This 1980 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L-82 looks and drives "EXCELLENT"!!! I drove this car from Las Vegas to Arizona approx. 150mi. It was a real pleasure to drive!! I got a lot of looks, nods and waves! The Motor, Trans and Rear end all run and perform well. No problems at all!! The suspension and steering is good and tight, it rides and handles "Very Nice"!! All the electrical works, including the Original Stereo!!! This car is like new!!! Inside and out!!!
This "Rare" 1980 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray L-82 would be a "Great Investment", Show Car, Weekend Cruiser or Driver!!! You won't find one better for the price!! It gets all the looks and attention!! It's priced to sell!!!
