Tastes vary, but this is one of the most, if not THE most desirable GTO ever built. It is a numbers matching, 4 speed, 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge convertible - THE REAL DEAL. Pontiac only built 108 convertible Judges in 1969. My information may be dated, but as I understand, this is the 27th one accounted for by the Pontiac Historic Society. This is indeed a rare beast. It is a Ram Air III car. There were only 4 Ram Air IV convertible judges built that year. The last one of those sold for $687K.
In addition to being rare, this car is somewhat historic. It is one of the last, if not the last, GTO Judge convertible built in 1969. It is the 5th and final one to come off the Fremont line, and was built very late in the model year. The build date on the PHS is 9 Jul 1969. It appears that the order was placed on 5 Jun 1969. According to Steve Ames of Ames Performance Engineering, this car should not have been built as a 1969 model. The original owner was a Pontiac Dealership, and he believes they exerted “pull” to get it built despite the model year switch.
The car has been professionally restored with all numbers matching. The car has undergone a meticulous frame-off restoration by Rob DeMasters of Musclecar Metal Crafters. The engine has been blueprinted by the Pikes Peak Hill Climb pros at Steve Mills Racing. The restoration has taken years. There is no doubt that the car is better than the day it rolled off the show room floor. The level of detail includes the white line tires from Coker Tire, using the original Firestone moulds and a correct, date coded Delco battery. The window glass has been replaced with the correct window glass per the option list. The frame and suspension parts are powder coated with the correct gloss throughout. This car is built to last and the engine only deviates from stock to enable it to run safely with today’s cheap gas and oil. The compression ratio is not lowered.
Since these cars are so rare, it is hard to fix a price given the ups and downs of the market. I believe my asking price is fair. I am not interested in a trade.
