We restored this car over the last 4 years. The interior, paint, lining, carpets, radio are new. The wood has been refinished. Except for some cosmetic dents the chrome is excellent. All bumpers have been re-chromed, new tires, new modern radio, automatic antenna, new shocks, entirely new exhaust system,..
We build and continue to update the car to be a daily summer user for ourselves. It started out originally as a 220se automatic. A reliable 250se engine and a manual transmission were installed. We also replaced the drums with disc brakes in the back for more safe and convenient every day use.
Since these pictures were taken last year, Startech Mercedes a specialized vintage Mercedes specialist in Aurora near Denver Colorado also performed the following repairs / improvements / upgrades:
New headliner, front disc brakes (were at 50% now new), rear swing spring axle system (so the car does not sit low / saggy as on the picture), coil springs, spring pad, set timing and adjust swell, replaced ok but not super performing bendix / starter, steering box coupler, steering box and seals.
As we write this (update 1/2016) most steering and suspension parts are being replaced by original Mercedes part shipped from Germany. We continue to rebuild and update this vehicle which we drive during the summer months and when it is dry.
We have altogether close to $40,000 invested in this car.
