Vehicle Description
If your in the market for a cool classic but still want to do some
work to it you are in luck. Most the time when you find a car that
needs work it is rusted out and would be a money pit. That is not
the case here. This classic 1955 Cadillac Series 62 is well on its
way to being a beautiful show car and needs very little to be
completed. That gives you a chance to get your hands in on the
build process without having to do the extensive work that has
gotten it this far. Scroll down to see a list of the things left to
do to the car. The two door hardtop is coated in the original style
yellow with metallic green hard top (Paint Code 40-44). The car was
completely disassembled and media blasted before receiving the new
paint job which has a great shine. The body is laser straight and
the paint was entirely wet sanded and buffed to a great finish. It
was a Texas car its entire life and is currently with its second
owner. Every chrome piece was removed and rechromed with all the
stainless being polished and buffed out. All of the rubber seals on
the car were replaced which is a time consuming task that really
makes a difference when it comes to wind noise. The car left the
factory with accessory options E-H which include the E-Z eye glass,
fog lights, 3.07 gear ratio, and the heating system. The deck lid
crest is brand new which surprisingly is a very pricey item. All of
the side window glass has been replaced and are in perfect shape.
Every nut and bolt on the car was media blasted and then cad plated
which really shows the attention to detail. This isn't a project
car where your going to spend time fixing other peoples work. This
thing was done right and with no corners cut has the potential to
be one of the nicest old Cadillacs around. The car rides on the
original style wheels and hubcaps with brand new white wall tires.
Moving on to the engine you will see a smooth running 331 V8 that
has no issues. The car has been entirely converted to a 12 volt
system which will save you some money and time not having to chase
down those 6 volt parts. The top end has been completely rebuilt
with various new parts being added. These parts include the new
generator, power steering pump, original style battery, water pump,
fuel pump, and starter. The new dual exhaust system puts a little
extra rumble out of the car which has a great sound. All of the
lines are routed along the frame with both painted and finished off
well. The brake system was entirely rebuilt to insure it never lets
you down. The power steering system is also in place making the car
much easier to drive than most classics. When a car is being
restored a lot of time the gas tank just sits. In the case of this
car it was entirely refurbished to insure no old gas ever gets back
in the system. In the interior is where you will find the most work
needing to be done. Don't let that scare you away though because
the dash is not included and is completely finished off. It is left
in the original style which is absolutely gorgeous. All of the
interior molding was media blasted and repainted. Most of this
molding is in place and ready to go. All of the light lenses are
brand new which is another feature that people tend to over look.
