"It's a standout for style-inside and out. Look at the new 1951
Mercury from any angle- front, rear, sides - see how beautiful a
car can be. Look inside, too - and see Mercury's new interior
luxury. The key to the 1951 Mercury's spirited performance is its
V-type, 8-cylinder, "Hi-Power Compression" engine. Teamed with the
3 speed manual transmission with overdrive, it gives you
performance that sets the pace for smoothness."

This is a very nice example of a very rare, highly sought after
1951 Mercury Sport Coupe. Owned by an elderly collector, this car
was acquired by him through a relative in 2002 and has been kept in
heated indoor storage since. It is being offered for sale now only
because of his advanced age. Please let all the pictures load
(there are over 120) to see the beautiful condition of this classic
Mercury. This is one of the few cars that actually looks better in
person than in the photos!
The odometer shows 59,706 miles and is believed to be correct, but
the car is being sold as exempt because of the age. We do have a
clear title showing actual mileage of 59,552 in 2002. Our knowledge
of what has been done to this car is very limited, but this is what
we do know. It is a combination of unmolested original, with some
cosmetic and mechanical improvements over the years. The front and
rear have been nosed and decked and it has shaved door handles with
push button release entry for the doors and trunk. The engine has
been upgraded with adjustable lifters and ground valves. The car
was repainted a beautiful pearl white in 2000, the bumpers were
re-chromed, the rest of the trim appears to be original and in
great shape. The interior has been restored with custom seat
covers, door panels and headliner. The undercarriage is mostly
original and is extremely solid and clean. The lake pipes and spots
are dummies and not operable. The tires are modern Firestone
radials P-235/75-15 front and rear. The gauges, horn, lights,
signals, windows and overdrive are fully operational and the car
rides, handles and looks terrific. The glove box was signed by
George Barris a few years ago at the Midwest Regional Street Rod
Show in Crown Point Indiana.
As of 9/4/2014 additional work has been done on the car as
follows. Chrome trim added to the side, new headliner installed
and the trunk has been completely redone with custom fabric.
Please remember that this car is 63 years old and not perfect. The
clock is inoperable and the radio and wipers turn on but are
weak.

THE CAR IS LOCATED IN GRIFFITH, INDIANA 46319
