*1960 Chevrolet Corvette 283/290* * Rare Rochester Fuel Injected
Example * 283ci V8 * ?290 Horsepower * Striking Black and Silver
over Red Color Combo * 4-Speed Manual Gearbox * The Ultimate in
Americana! 1960 marked the mid-point for the refreshed first
generation Corvette and is arguably the most iconic era. With its
unique side cove, attractive colors and powerful V8, these
Corvettes really took the marque into sports car territory. This
1960 example is particularly desirable thanks to its factory fitted
Rochester fuel injection system, making it one of the most powerful
factory trim levels. This 1960 Corvette was purchased by the
consignor out of a Corvette collection in 2006 in Roseburg, Oregon.
Finished in black with silver side coves, this Corvette offers an
upscale look, which is further highlighted by its chrome hubcaps
and wide white wall tires. Up front, dual headlights flank a large
"toothed" grille, with the iconic crossed flag Corvette emblem
sitting proudly between the fenders. The black folding convertible
top remains in very good shape. Open the door and you are met by
striking red covering the seats, carpets, dashboard and steering
wheel rim. When the top is down, this interior choice looks
absolutely incredible paired with the silver and black exterior and
is without a doubt the car's statement piece. Drop into the
driver's seat and you are met by a 3-spoke steering wheel that
frames a 150 mph speedometer, and smaller inset tachometer. Under
the hood sits a 283ci small block V8, which is topped by the
innovative Rochester mechanical fuel injection system. This cutting
edge tech allowed this V8 to break the 1 horsepower per cubic inch
barrier, putting out a stout 290 hp from the factory. This then
sends power through a 4-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels.
Under current ownership, the fuel tank was replaced and the
injection system was rebuilt. These C1 Corvettes represent the
ultimate in classic Americana paired with surprising performance,
and are also lots of fun to drive. This example is offered in a
great color combination and with all the right bits to ensure it
keeps you entertained every time you slide behind the wheel. *- -
