PROJECT UPSIDES & EXTERIOR
Factory Sunroof!
This 220S is a fantastic project with massive upside, offering a
highly complete and running baseline for the dedicated
Mercedes-Benz enthusiast.
Currently finished in a classic off-white, the car retains its
iconic factory body lines, complete front grille, and bright chrome
bumpers.
ENGINE & MECHANICALS
Under the hood sits the Mercedes-Benz inline-6 engine paired with
the highly unique and desirable Hydrak transmission.
A major plus for this project is that the engine successfully
starts on auxiliary fuel and idles smoothly, proving the mechanical
viability of the drivetrain.
The engine bay is relatively complete but will require localized
structural metalwork due to rust-through on the passenger-side
inner fender apron.
The undercarriage shows typical surface corrosion and aging
expected from an unrestored chassis of this vintage, providing a
straightforward structural baseline.
INTERIOR & INCLUDED PARTS
A significant amount of heavy lifting has already been done, as the
cabin features a recently and completely redone striking red
interior.
The dashboard is beautifully adorned with heavily figured, glossy
woodgrain trim and houses the original metric instrumentation with
German-language gauges.
The passenger-side interior door panel is currently disassembled
and safely stored in the trunk.
A comprehensive cache of uninstalled spare parts comes included in
the trunk to help the next owner complete the project. This
incredible parts haul includes preserved spare wood interior trim,
various exterior chrome brightwork pieces, and vintage Bosch
components still in their original boxes.
