With the 404, introduced in the early 1960s, Peugeot presented a modern, elegant mid-size car designed by Pininfarina. The coupé followed shortly after the cabriolet, with its bodywork crafted by Pininfarina in Turin. The result is still considered one of the most beautiful French coupés of its generation. The "Injection" model served as the technical showpiece: its 1618cc four-cylinder engine featured a Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection system—an exclusive and advanced solution for the time. The reliability of this technology was proven by the 404 Injection’s three consecutive victories in the Safari Rally, from 1966 through 1968. Furthermore, the coupé was one of the most expensive Peugeots of its era. By the time production ended in 1968, only 6,837 units had been built. This 1964 404 Coupé was originally delivered in France and comes from its second owner, who held the car for an impressive 24 years.
