U.S. NAVY TRIBUTE | CUSTOM V8 SHOW TRUCK | AVIATION-INSPIRED
DESIGN
BUILT WITH PURPOSE. DESIGNED TO STAND APART. A TRIBUTE THAT GOES
BEYOND THE METAL.
This 2012 Nissan Frontier, appropriately named "ANCHORS AWEIGH,"
takes custom truck building in a direction few would attempt.
Combining military heritage, detailed fabrication, and a
distinctive aviation-inspired design, this Nissan is far removed
from its factory origins.
Created by Shane Andrews as a tribute to his late brother-in-law,
Navy veteran Rick Baker, and his father, fellow Navy veteran Jeff
Andrews, this build carries a personal story that extends well
beyond its custom appearance.
From its extensive hand-painted artwork to its modified chassis and
aircraft-inspired cockpit, every major element was designed around
a common theme.
CUSTOM PAINT - A STORY IN EVERY PANEL
The exterior showcases elaborate airbrushed artwork by renowned
artist Mickey Harris, illustrating the history of the United States
Navy from its founding through the modern era.
Detailed military imagery, historical references, and personalized
tributes flow across the body, transforming the exterior into a
visual timeline of naval history.
The body has also undergone extensive modifications, including
shaved door handles, mirrors, taillights, fuel door, antenna, and
other factory components. A custom front-tilting hood provides
access to the engine compartment while maintaining the truck's
streamlined appearance.
MORE THAN CUSTOM PAINT - A TRIBUTE BROUGHT TO LIFE THROUGH
AUTOMOTIVE DESIGN.
V8 POWER - BUILT TO BACK UP THE LOOKS
The original Nissan engine has been replaced with a built GM 5.3L
V8, delivering traditional American V8 performance in a platform
not commonly associated with this powerplant.
The engine compartment continues the military theme with a custom
engine cover featuring an airbrushed American flag.
CUSTOM CHASSIS & AIR SUSPENSION
Beneath the body is a heavily modified suspension and chassis setup
designed to achieve the truck's lowered stance while incorporating
custom fabrication throughout.
Suspension and chassis highlights include:
Custom front control arms
Dominator air bags
Custom rear frame section with an 8-inch C-notch
AccuAir E-Level electronic air management
Custom anchor details integrated into the chassis
22-inch Lexani LF-722 wheels with custom two-tone finishes
R1 Concepts drilled and slotted brake rotors
The bed features one of the build's most distinctive elements:
remote-operated bomb bay-style doors that open to reveal a military
bomb-inspired air tank, television, and custom battery display.
It's a creative combination of fabrication and functionality that
carries the aviation theme into an area often overlooked on custom
builds.
AVIATION-INSPIRED CUSTOM INTERIOR
Step inside, and the traditional Nissan cabin has been transformed
into a military aircraft-inspired cockpit.
The factory dashboard and seating have been replaced with custom
components designed to complement the exterior theme.
Interior features include:
Custom-fabricated military-style dashboard
Grumman aircraft steering yoke
Aircraft-inspired throttle controls
Iron Ace bomber seats
Custom riveted sheetmetal door panels
Military aircraft-inspired painted finishes
Six MTX component speakers
Four 15-inch MTX subwoofers
MTX amplifiers
From the aircraft-style controls to the exposed riveted panels, the
interior reflects the same attention to theme and fabrication found
throughout the exterior.
