1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS Clone - Built 454 Big Block - TH400
Automatic
This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS clone combines classic
first-generation styling with a nicely built big block and tasteful
upgrades throughout. Finished in attractive blue paint with SS
badging, a cowl-induction hood, and a rear spoiler, it has a
muscular appearance complemented by polished Boyd Coddington
five-spoke wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
Under the hood is a built 454ci V8 backed by receipts from Fastime
Racing Engines. The paperwork documents extensive engine machining
and assembly, including cylinder boring and honing, crankshaft
work, connecting rod reconditioning, cylinder head work, and
balancing. Listed components include a Howards hydraulic roller
camshaft, hydraulic roller lifters, custom pushrods, a roller
timing set, and ARP hardware. The accompanying January 2016 engine
dyno report records approximately 402 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of
torque, with the bored 454 measuring approximately 467 cubic
inches.
The engine is equipped with an Edelbrock Performer intake, a
four-barrel carburetor, and MSD ignition. Supporting receipts list
a Holley 770 CFM Ultra Street Avenger carburetor, MSD billet
distributor, Blaster 3 coil, and MSD 6AL ignition box. Chrome 454
valve covers and a blue air cleaner give the engine compartment a
finished appearance.
A TH400 automatic transmission, B&M floor shifter, and GM
12-bolt rear end complete the drivetrain. Power steering and power
brakes add convenience, while headers feed a full exhaust system
with electric cutouts operated by a switch under the dash, allowing
you to change the exhaust note at the touch of a switch.
Inside, white upholstery with black-and-white houndstooth inserts
contrasts nicely with the black dashboard, door panels, and
carpeting. Front bucket seats, a wood-rim steering wheel, an
aftermarket tachometer, and auxiliary gauges mounted beneath the
dash give the cabin a classic performance feel. A modern
classic-style Bluetooth radio adds convenient audio connectivity
while retaining a period-inspired appearance.
A full booklet of build receipts is also available for potential
buyers to review, providing additional documentation of the work
and components that went into this Camaro.
