"The Jaguar XJSC Cabriolet had Targa panels over the driver and
passenger area, with a fabric roof that could be folded down at the
rear, (manually). There was also an accessory available, which
enabled the owner to remove the fabric roof and replace it with a
hardtop - which was complete with heated glass rear window.

For consignment, a 1987 Jaguar XJ-SC convertible with a title
verified 62,230 actual miles. Only 5,013 XJ-SC's were built between
1982 and 1988 and of them, 3,415 were left hand drive and 2,915 of
those had V12's. The rest were intended for the European
market.
Exterior
Coming straight at you, it's easy to disregard this as just another
XJS, with Americanized black bumpers, dual headlights, and outboard
fog lights. But turn to the side and the rigidly framed dark blue
canvas top, narrow C-pillar, and large rear side windows reveal
this rare cat's status. In back, it lacks the flying buttresses of
the coupe but retains the handsome rear fascia with stunning
taillights and modest dual exhaust tips. Remove the front panels,
and have a targa style opening and covered rear cabin; remove both
and you have a full cabriolet with roll bar perched behind the
front seats while window frames stay in place. This example wears
Arctic Blue Metallic augmented with a white pinstripe and 15-inch
Jaguar wheels with 215/70R15 tires that have a mid 2019 date code.
Imperfections are few and include chips, some dimpling and fading
of the blue canvas, and a dent and resulting surface rust on the
front apron.
Interior
If you were expecting tan or black, Jaguar throws you a surprise
with an Isis Blue interior, constructed with the finest materials
including leather and burlwood trim on the door panels that both
present nicely. The bucket seats with their tuck and roll inserts
also wear blue leather and combine sportiness with luxury. Our
driver's seat shows some minor patina creasing but the passenger
side looks great and there are no rear seats. The black steering
wheel fronts Jag's unique instrument cluster with no shortage of
indicator lights and it's all business. It's more luxurious to the
right where glossy burlwood is prominent and tops the
AM/FM/Cassette radio and information center. A narrow T-handle
shifter resides in black plastic faceplate over a blue center
console over gray carpet, all in nice shape. Our gray targa liner
is in nice condition and is fully intact and the trunk is fully
finished and clean, housing a covered spare and the battery.
Drivetrain
Always filled to the brim is the engine bay of an XJS V12. Here's
the 5.3 liter unit, putting out 295 horsepower and receiving fuel
through fuel injection. The powerplant is backed by a TH400 3-speed
automatic transmission that routes power through 3.54 gears in
back. The bay presents in clean condition.
Undercarriage
Super clean underneath where dual exhaust travels through stock
style mufflers on their way to a twin exit and power disc brakes
are found on all four wheels. The fully independent suspension
includes coil springs front and back.
Drive-Ability
Even sitting still in a Jaguar XJSC cabin is exciting. The sitting
position, size and stance of the car is just right. We roll the V12
across the test loop where it provides good, smooth power, the car
tracking straight and handling turns like a train on proverbial
rails. We note the A/C does not work, the reverse lightsdon't work,
and the radio is going to need a code. Beyond that, all other
functions operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents
that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we
cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of
your purchase.
