"The 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle received a slight facelift compared to
the '66 Chevelle, including less angular headlight surrounds and a
larger bumper cutout beneath the grille. The Chevelle continued to
be offered in three trims - 300, 300 Deluxe and Malibu. The 300 and
300 Deluxe were offered as a two door sedan, four door sedan and
four door wagon. The Malibu offered plenty of different body
styles, including two door wagon, four door sedan, sport coupe,
convertible, and four door sport sedan." Hagerty.com
For consignment, a 1967 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle convertible
showing 26 miles, but the true miles are unknown. Recently
restored, this example will likely not last long and will leave the
way most '67 Chevelles leave the mall; with a happy new owner! This
one has a date correct 327 under the hood.
Exterior
The super straight body is awash in gleaming two stage Tahoe
Turquoise paint in a monochromatic coverage that is not only
unique, but if you've been to Lake Tahoe, pretty accurate and this
paint is fathoms deep! A simple grille and dual headlight
configuration cover the front with polished metals while the rear
is finished with V-shaped lenses that wrap around the edge for dual
purpose. The laser straight rear bumper hugs the body, hosts a set
of reverse lights, and casts a shadow on the emerging dual exhaust
underneath. 15-inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels carry
245/60R15 tires no older than late 2023. Twin bulges on the hood
and faux vents are epically cool and our black canvas top is in
excellent condition though we note haziness and marks on the
plastic. Imperfections are few and noted as several inclusions,
light filler evidence, slight alignment issue on hood, and a few
paint chips.
Interior
Black vinyl door panels with decorative hash mark trim present
cleanly and we have a feeling this is only the start to the tour of
Clean Town! Black bucket seats look sharp and the rear bench
follows suit, albeit in a slightly different stitch pattern. From
the steering wheel forward, it looks like 1967 all over again with
a dash that could have come off the assembly line yesterday. A
metallic mid panel is home to the AM/FM radio and a ribbed call out
panel. The floor is home to a tall, chrome handled shifter over
black looped carpet and the trunk is so clean, the only thing we're
putting there is our attention!
Drivetrain
The show quality continues under the hood where you'll find the
correct 327ci V8 rated at 275 horsepower, and receiving fuel
through a 4-barrel carburetor. Behind it, a Saginaw 4-speed manual
transmission routing power to the 10 bolt rear axle with 3.08
gears. Power brakes and power steering are evident in this engine
bay that you could eat off of!
Undercarriage
The fantastically clean underside is in keeping with the car's show
worthiness; it's just what you want to see! Other than a drop of
oil, the bottom is dry and rust free. For components, we have power
disc brakes in front and power drums behind. Dual exhaust runs
cleanly through stainless steel mufflers on its way to a rear
tandem exit and suspension is comprised of coil springs at both
ends with a 4 link in back.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter, the V8 puts down good power on the test loop and
the car tracks straight and handles well. We're getting occasional
pops through the carburetor and a slight lack of power that
indicates a timing adjustment might be at hand. All other functions
on this lake colored beauty work as they should. While Classic Auto
Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of
our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working
at the time of your purchase.
It's not the rarest of color available in 1967, but it falls within
the low range of availability; of the 400,000 Chevelles built in
that year, less than 15,000 wore Tahoe Turquoise and on this car's
two stage application, it presents very nicely. This is a fantastic
build with the ever popular retractable top. It's going to look
great next to any body of water you choose
