INTRODUCTION: 11,691 actual miles! I personally bought this
Corvette from THE original owner and sold it to a serious collector
in 2019. I just acquired it back from that same collector, who put
only 30 miles on it!
This is one of the finest, most desirable 1971 Corvettes in
existence. A highly acclaimed, extensively judged and awarded
original survivor! It's also loaded with desirable options,
including a 454 big block, 4-speed, factory air conditioning, and
two tops! And if you haven't noticed, it's finished in beautiful
Mille Miglia Red with a black deluxe leather interior.
This Corvette has earned some of the most prestigious awards in the
hobby, including Bloomington Gold Survivor, Gold certification,
NCRS Top Flight, and the coveted Triple Crown! Along with the
awards, certificates, and judging sheets, the original owner
preserved an incredible collection of memorabilia, including
application forms, acceptance letters, framed photographs, gold
pins with certification numbers, and much more.
It earned its awards throughout the 1990s and remains virtually
unchanged, with only 646 miles added since that time. In 1992, it
had just 11,019 miles. The original owner kept it covered in a
clean, dry garage, drove it approximately 25 miles a year, and
performed regular oil changes.
According to the original owner, everything remains original except
the reproduction tires, battery, exhaust, and convertible top.
EXTERIOR: Finished in its factory Mille Miglia Red, this Corvette
retains a no-hit, virgin body with mostly original paint that still
shines beautifully! The chrome and trim are excellent, bright and
straight. The original glass is crystal clear, and judging stickers
are still displayed in the windshield. It retains the original
weather shields behind the grilles to protect the headlights, along
with the correct gas cap and caution tag. The black convertible top
is excellent, and the original auxiliary hardtop is equally
impressive, with a mint headliner and weatherstripping. It still
wears its original deluxe hubcaps, which are in excellent
condition, along with correct reproduction Goodyear Wide Tread
tires. The jambs are exceptionally clean, and the original
weatherstripping remains in good condition.
INTERIOR: All original and exceptionally well preserved! Sitting
inside is practically like stepping into a brand-new 1971
Corvette.
The entire dash area is mint. The gauges, lenses, knobs, and vents
are all in excellent condition. The factory fiber optics work, and
the center console is excellent. Even the interior lights operate,
including those in the rear compartments. The carpeting is
excellent, front and rear, and the door panels are mint. The
genuine leather seats and armrest are beautifully preserved. There
is one crack in the plastic housing beneath the armrest. This
Corvette has never been smoked in, and even the ashtray and
cigarette lighter are mint! Desirable features include the AM/FM
stereo, deluxe leather interior, shoulder belts, and
tilt-telescopic steering wheel. A reproduction battery is located
in the rear compartment, complete with vent hoses, a shutoff
switch, and a built-in charger.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Under the hood is its original,
numbers-matching 454 big block, producing an impressive 365
horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque! The engine's authenticity has
been closely scrutinized by Corvette judges, who carefully verify
the numbers.
The engine compartment looks much as it did when it left the
factory. It retains its original components and authentic details,
including the ignition shielding and factory overspray on the
manifolds. Desirable factory equipment includes air conditioning,
power steering, and power brakes.
UNDERSIDE: It is exceptionally clean and well preserved, with
original assembly-line paint markings still visible! The
suspension, bottom of the engine, and transmission are all clean.
Even the nuts, bolts, and hardware retain their clean, original
appearance. The frame is solid, clean metal, and the floors are
mint, still displaying their original raw fiberglass finish.
The exhaust has been replaced with a correct reproduction Gardner
system. It features four-wheel disc brakes, with calipers rebuilt
using stainless steel pistons. The transmission is its original,
numbers-matching Muncie M20 4-speed, backed by the original,
numbers-matching 3.08 Positraction rear end. It also features
independent suspension front and rear. Even the spare tire carrier
assembly is mint and still holds an original spare!
CONCLUSION: I personally bought this Corvette from the gentleman
who purchased it brand new. Now, the next owner has an opportunity
to own a genuine time capsule with an incredible collection of
documentation and prestigious certifications to back it up! I've
been doing this for over 35 years, and I recognize just how special
this car really is. Think about it: incredibly low miles,
remarkable originality, a 454 with a 4-speed, factory air
conditioning, two tops, red with black leather, and virtually every
prestigious Corvette award you could hope for! All the most
sought-after ingredients that make a Corvette desirable, rolled
into one extraordinary car. This is Corvette gold!
