This amazing Porsche 356 Pre-A Coupe replica was built by Vintage Motorcars of CA about 3 years ago and has just under 1200 miles on it. Finished in Carrera White this car is in beautiful, like new condition inside and out and is an absolute blast to drive. Vintage Motorcars of CA has built less than 12 of these amazing Pre-A Coupes but is known to be the premier builder of 356 Speedster replicas. The builder actually built this one as a show piece and he displayed it alongside his Speedster builds at various shows in Southern CA before selling it to a guy in TN. The current owner has actually owned 6 of our Speedster builds including 2 Super Widebody versions. He loved this Coupe so much he actually has ordered another one in the color combination of his dreams so he decided to let another lucky owner experience the thrill of driving this one. He has asked me to find it a new home so it is available now for the next lucky owner…maybe you!!!?
This masterpiece is hand crafted with the correct styling cues of an original Pre-A Coupe and built on a reconditioned VW Chassis and is currently titled as a 1970 VW. The classic lines on this Pre-A Coupe are drenched in Carrera White and the paint quality is top notch. Built to have a slightly more aggressive look without the rocker and bumper trim this one catches all the attention and has taken first place at several car shows. Body panel fit is amazing and the doors shut like a new car. The Pre-A Coupes were built between 1952 and late 1955. The curved or bent front windshield was one piece and the rear fenders were styled to hide more of the rear wheel and tire. The builder of these cars uses a hand laid, steel reinforced, fiberglass body and most everyone who sees this car assumes it is the real deal. Correct Beehive styled tail lights and a spyder shine down style license plate light look awesome. Porsche badging looks awesome and a couple of engine grille badges add to the authenticity. Mesh headlight grilles for a period correct look and a very cool Porsche Race Styled side view mirror was mounted on the fender. Front windows are power and rear windows pop out like the originals. Paint and body are basically in show condition and the lucky new owner will definitely be thrilled when this car arrives in their driveway.
Complimenting the beautiful Carrera white exterior is an equally impressive Baseball Glove leather interior with super comfortable Speedster styled seats. The rear seat shelf area is styled just like the original and a beautiful Woodgrain Steering wheel with Porsche horn button looks so good. Authentic styled gauges provide the driver with all the needed vital info. The VDO Speedometer is a GPS unit and separate fuel and temperature gauges are correctly positioned in the dash. A very cool 356 Dash Clock is also neatly mounted. Heated seat switches for driver and passenger. A Bose Bluetooth Soundbar has been mounted under the dash delivering great sound and is wired in to the ignition to stay charged. Power windows operate nicely with switches neatly mounted under dash and rear windows fold out if desired. Dark gray German Square weave carpeting throughout with a nice set of black custom Coco mats and sporty set of Aluminum race pedals. Let’s not forget the crisp shifting Vintage Speed Shifter and the authentic under dash umbrella e-brake handle as well.

As impressed as I am with the fit and finish on our Vintage Motorcars of CA builds I am equally impressed with the performance these cars offer. The 2332 cc. was a brand new, fully balanced motor with top quality components from CB Performance and built by Pat Downs Performance. Originally Rated at 125 hp this one has upgraded weber Carburetors adding a few hp as well. With 8.2:1 compression ratio this motor pulls strong and crisp. I would be happy to provide more technical data on the engine build for those who need it. Transmission is a 3.44 ring and pinion for easy highway cruising. This combination provides excellent torque and acceleration in 1st-3rd and also allows easy highway cruising at 75 mph. Empi 5 lug 5x205mm 4 wheel disc brakes stop this Speedster precisely with ease. Other features include electronic ignition, stock dog house oil cooler and remote 72pass oil cooler with electric fan thermostatically controlled, Polished Vintage 190 Aluminum 5 lug wheels were powder coated black and treated to a set of Drumskin covers for a slightly more agressive stance. Tires were upgraded to a like new set of Pirelli P4 radials. Great tone from the A1 performance single exit exhaust with an oval Carrera styled tip. The undercarriage is also nicely detailed and floorpan protected with a bed liner material to ensure it lasts the test of time. These cars handle the road beautifully and are an absolute joy to drive. This is the perfect time of year to get this car out for some spirited driving and showing it off at the fall/winter car shows.
