Frame off restoration and is finished in Starlight Black over a
Black vinyl interior with a matching convertible top. The
restoration is approximately 15 years old and continues to present
beautifully. Accompanying the car is an impressive collection of
documentation, including Pontiac Historic Services (PHS)
documentation, the original Protect-O-Plate, hundreds of
restoration receipts and records, the owner's manual, and original
Pontiac booklets. Under the hood sits a period-correct 389
cubic-inch V8 equipped with Pontiac's signature Tri-Power setup,
paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.90 rear axle.
While the engine is not numbers-matching, it is consistent with the
car's original 1965 configuration (Was born a Tri-Power) and may be
a service replacement according to the casting dates. The engine
was rebuilt in 2011, and recent mechanical work includes a tune-up,
new spark plugs and wires, a new distributor cap and rotor, timing
adjustment, and a leak-down test, which the engine passed (2021).
The exterior is complemented by Cragar wheels wrapped in Redline
tires, along with Flowmaster mufflers and the distinctive dual
exhaust splitters that give the GTO its unmistakable rear
appearance. Note this car is a convertible conversion. Inside, the
Black vinyl interior features front bucket seats, a center console,
GTO-embroidered floor mats, a period-correct-style modern AM/FM
radio, Kicker kick-panel speakers, and a rear-seat speaker. The
seat covers, door panels, gauges, and sill plates were replaced
during the restoration and continue to present exceptionally well.
Overall, the restoration has held up very well, and the car still
looks fantastic top to bottom. Odometer reads 3237 miles.
